If you’ve been avoiding hyperlocal content because you don’t have time (or you don’t want to be on camera), this is for you.

Carousels are one of the easiest ways to create local content. And honestly, some of my highest saved content isn’t even video. It’s carousels.

But here’s the thing: local carousels only work if you structure them the right way. So if you’ve ever posted one and it didn’t get much traction, it’s probably because it was missing one of these three things.

1. Make It a Number

This is the easiest way to instantly make your content more engaging.

Think:

  • 8 must-try bakeries in [your city]
  • 6 farmers markets in [your city]
  • 7 best date night spots in [your city]

People love lists because they’re easy to skim, easy to save, and feel useful.

When someone sees a number, they immediately understand what they’re getting, and they’re more likely to swipe through.

2. Make It Specific to Your Audience

 

This is where most agents miss the mark. They create content that’s too broad, hoping it applies to everyone in their community, but that’s exactly why it doesn’t connect.

The more specific your content is, the more people actually care about it.

For me, my audience is moms with kids between the ages of 2-14 in North Spokane. So I’m thinking about:

  • restaurants that are actually kid-friendly
  • places to get out with friends (without the kids)
  • easy, realistic things they would actually do

When your content feels like it was made for someone, it performs better.

3. Make It Timely

This is the most important part, and these ones hit the hardest because timing gives your content urgency.

Think about what’s happening this month:

  • patios opening for spring
  • farmers markets starting up
  • Mother’s Day coming up
  • summer break around the corner

When your content lines up with what people are already thinking about, it becomes way more relevant, and way more likely to be saved and shared.

When you combine these three things:

  • a clear, simple format
  • content that feels personal
  • timing that makes sense

…you create something that people don’t just scroll past.

They save it. They share it. They come back to it later. And that’s exactly what you want.
