The National Association of REALTORS® has announced the 2023 class of 30 Under 30—young NAR members recognized for extraordinary achievements in their businesses, associations, and communities.

NAR has been recognizing 30 outstanding realtors under the age of 30 every year since 2000. About 300 twenty-something real estate professionals applied for this honor, and NAR’s panel of judges narrowed the field to 50 finalists in early March.

Then, during the week-long Web Choice Award voting period from March 24th to the 31st, NAR counted a total of 57,881 votes from members of the public. Kelly Carlson, with Engel & Völkers in Chicago, took the number one spot as the Web Choice winner with 5,277 votes.

NAR’s panel of judges selected the other 29 honorees.

Defining qualities of this year’s 30 Under 30

The standout agents on this year’s list are “bold entrepreneurs,” as NAR describes them. Some have taken great leaps and overcome significant obstacles to not only make it in the real estate industry but stand out as inspiring role models.

Some left successful careers in other fields and worked part-time, low-wage jobs while they worked to pursue their dream of becoming the best real estate agent in their market. They serve their communities now as relationship builders and barrier breakers, helping as many of their neighbors as possible attain homeownership and start building generational wealth.

This year’s class approaches marketing a bit differently from the way many previous 30 Under 30 honorees did. Instead of relying exclusively on face-to-face strategies like door knocking, more of them are growing their brand and building relationships through Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

When they’re on social media, they’re connecting with their clients and prospects through videos and engaging with them through comments and DMs. They’re learning from some of the best in the field to level up their brand awareness and attract lifelong clients.

Top takeaways for real estate agents

This year’s 30 Under 30 are more likely to rely on social media to market their brand, but that doesn’t diminish the effectiveness of more fear-inducing methods like cold calling and door knocking.

We recommend trying it all to see which methods work best for you. Learn from those who excel at each marketing method and give it an honest try before writing anything off as “too hard,” “too stressful,” or “too salesy.” What you learn from it could change everything.

Be open to that.
