If you’re reading this, it means you’ve successfully navigated another year in real estate—congratulations! Hopefully, you also completed your code of ethics training.

2024 presented unique challenges, with lawsuits, settlement changes, the election, and a general wave of negativity toward real estate agents. The days of the COVID-era market, where anyone with a pulse could lip-sync on TikTok and sell a home for 30% over ask, are long gone.

Now, the spotlight is firmly on us as agents, making everything we say, do, and post more critical than ever! And we here at BAM will continue to help guide you through this journey!

Let’s recap the content landscape of 2024 before we jump into 2025:

  • Collab Reels flourished and gave users the best chance to get in front of new audiences and grow on Instagram.
  • AI tools like ChatGPT and MidJourney became essential for content creation. If you aren’t using ChatGPT to at least brainstorm content ideas, you are missing out.
  • TikTok might get banned (again)
  • Community focus became super important as creators, agents, and brands opened up their own Facebook groups, Skools, Discords, etc.
  • 2024 was the year of the bait-and switch trend-hook on Instagram.
  • Carousel posts added music and the option to upload TWENTY photos to one post.
  • Broadcast channels became one of the best ways to connect instantly with your Instagram community.
  • DM/Chat automation like ManyChat went mainstream as more agents turned to comments and DM’s for conversions.
  • AI’s integration into everything was both exciting and overwhelming.
  • Small businesses and creators focused on hyper-local content to build meaningful connections in their communities.

Now, let’s get into some content ideas to kick off the new year.

January 2025 HOLIDAYS

January 1st: New Year’s Day

Prediction Content:

The first week of January is prime time for prediction posts. They’re engaging, create anticipation, and invite comments. Use a Reel or carousel with this hook: “These are my predictions for the [insert local city] housing market in 2025.” I would avoid mortgage rate predictions because those are almost always wrong, and you’re just setting yourself up for DISASTER.

Mix in some fun, non-real estate predictions to spice up the post:

  • Who will win the Super Bowl?
  • What’s the next viral trend?
  • Which streaming show will dominate?
  • Design trends

OR, you can do the exact opposite and say things that will NOT happen in 2025. Negatives tend to perform better as hooks on social: “Here are five things that definitely WON’T happen in 2025.”

Resolution Ideas:

Post your 2025 resolutions and share what you learned from failed 2024 resolutions to show your relatable side. Focus on:

  • Real estate goals: sales, recruitment, content plans.
  • Personal aspirations: fitness, hobbies, or time management.
  • Vision Board

Tip: A photo of your “Notes App” resolutions can add an authentic touch. You can also green screen your note to turn it into a Reel and provide context to your goals.

Ins and Outs Lists:

Create an “In and Out” list for 2025 that reflects real estate trends, pop culture, or personal goals. For example:

  • IN: paint colors, design trends, particular types of kitchens, architecture, digital detox retreats, local adventures
  • OUT: maximalist clutter, fad diets etc. (I literally have no idea)

Storytelling:

Tell a memorable story from 2024. What was your biggest lesson learned or most surprising moment? Focus on problem-solving or unique client stories for maximum impact.

Memes/Jokes:

  • “Dry January? I’m a real estate agent…pass.”
  • “To everyone who said they’d buy in 2024, it’s 2025. Let’s talk.”

MAIN TAKEAWAY:

People ease into routines during the first week of the year. If you have a major announcement, wait until week two. This is also a great time to tease upcoming content or events.

January 15th: National Bagel Day

Last month we had “National Have a Bagel Day,” and if by some chance you missed this monumental holiday, you can run it back with National Bagel Day! Highlight your favorite bagel shops in your local market.

Here is some inspiration on what to do for a giveaway:

January 20th: Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Use this day to share an inspirational quote or story from Dr. King that ties into your goals or message. Authenticity is key.

January 23rd: National Pie Day

Highlight your favorite local spot to get pies or do a giveaway on social.

January 25th: Opposite Day

Start a video with a powerful hook like “You should NEVER Buy a HOUSE—psych, it’s opposite day.”

Or

“Here are five things that I HATE about (insert your community).”

FINAL THOUGHTS

Write yourself a little content prescription and stick with it for the first quarter of 2025. It’s good to have a plan, and I bet you will see significant results! Try this one from Dr. Clickstein!

Let’s have a hell of a year.
