If you’re reading this, it means you’ve made it through another year in real estate. So, congratulations are in order.

Let’s recap the social media landscape of 2023 before we jump into 2024:

  • Threads was the coolest thing on Earth for ten days
  • Twitter became X
  • CapCut made our lives easier
  • AI made our lives more confusing and also easier (if you know what you’re doing)
  • Instagram launched Broadcast Channels, Notes, and multiple collabs
  • TikTok tried to become Instagram with still and text-based images
  • Instagram tried to become TikTok
  • X tried to become everything
  • Facebook made an engagement resurgence
  • YouTube converted better than everything
  • Barbie had the best viral promotional campaign of all time
  • Taylor Swift became the biggest Chiefs fan on the planet

Now, let’s get into some content ideas to kick off the new year.

January 1st: New Year’s Day

Prediction Content:

The first week of January is a great time to post your 2024 predictions. Prediction content performs very well and makes the perfect hook for a Reel or carousel post. It also holds viewer retention because people want to hear until the end.

So, give us your 2024 predictions with the simple hook, “These are my predictions for the (insert local city) housing market for 2024.”

Then, add in some funny predictions that don’t relate to housing at all like who you think will win the Super Bowl, what movie will win Best Picture, or what food will gain popularity. The hook will capture people’s attention and the random, non-real estate B.S. predictions will engage people in the comments.

If you’re really feeling crazy, you can do a full-blown prediction blog to send out to your database, and you can embed your social post into the blog to give it a longer half-life and improve its SEO. Or – OMG! – you can Green Screen your own article!! Farm content from yourself.

ICYMI, here are my social media and content predictions for 2024.

New Year’s Resolutions or 2024 Goals:

This can be a video, or you can just post your Resolutions from your Notes App to make it look super organic and authentic. It’s also interesting to let people know what Resolutions from 2023 you failed on because that makes you RELATABLE and people like relatable.

Resolution Ideas:

Real estate sales goals, team recruiting, fitness/health, content plan, hobbies, etc. Publicly stating your resolutions and goals makes you more accountable than just keeping them to yourself. But be careful… you don’t want to say something you’ll regret—like “starting a weekly podcast” that has one episode and never sees the light of day again.

Ins and Outs Lists:

Kind of a new take on New Year’s resolutions. While some people are creating these lists with the true intention of bettering themselves, this is a pretty easy thing to spoof

Story Telling:

Tell us the craziest thing that happened to you during a transaction in 2023 or your most unexpected moment in real estate. Preferably how you solved a problem, not how you fell out of escrow and are now in multiple lawsuits.

The classic “I would do dry January, but I’m a real estate agent.”

Or, you can go with:

“PSA to everyone who got engaged over the Holidays and needs a house, HMU.”

“For everyone who said they wanted to wait until the New Year to buy or sell a home…it’s the New Year.”

You know, the classics! Btw, if you want access to monthly social media templates, lead magnets, Reels ideas and more join our content platform with Coffee & Contracts.

Main Takeaway: The first week back is hectic, and people are still settling into work and their routines.

So, if you are planning on launching a new show, have a major announcement or a post that you really want to get eyeballs on, I would hold off until the end of the first week, or better yet wait until the second week. There’s a reason we’re not throwing any major events at BAM this week.  But, we are hosting a lead source webinar with the great Tom Storey and Emma Pace on January 9th. Make sure you reserve your spot now—it’s totally free.

January 15th: Martin Luther King Jr. Day

This is celebrated on the third Monday of January every year, close to Dr. King’s birthday on January 15th. It remembers and honors the life and legacy of Dr. King. You can squeeze in a motivational quote in his memory that also applies to your goals and motivation.

In summary:

  • Long-form and high-quality content will convert and be appreciated way more than high-volume Reels.
  • Images and carousel images are back.
  • It’s time to start using AI, and this ebook on ChatGPT is a great place to start.
  • Blogging and email newsletters will take you deeper with your audience.
  • And finally, value-driven content will outshine humor…which is bad news for me.

JANUARY SPORTS and Pop Culture

On New Year’s Day, we will have the final College Football Playoff with four teams, capped off by the championship on January 8th. A week later the NFL Playoffs start on the 13th and the NBA and NHL regular seasons will take a backseat as football popularity continues to destroy basketball and hockey.

Mean Girls, a new musical take on the classic comes out January 12th and will probably provide some good memes and audios.

The Crypto Bull Run might be back.

And you have one day left to join BAMx with our 25% discount code “FROSTY.” This is the year to double down on building your digital brand, and our platform is the place to do it.

BOOM! Let’s have a hell of a year!
