Happy Friday!
It’s March Madness, so I want to share three quick social media tips from this week’s amazing Walk Thru episode and then you can go back to watching basketball.
Having trouble actually filming content? Hold yourself accountable.
Matt Lionetti went on a great rant at the end of the episode and said that ideas mean nothing. Sure, you may have great ideas for content, but until you actually film and post them, they don’t exist.
His recommendation is to get someone to hold you accountable. This could be your broker, another agent in your office, or your videographer. When you schedule a time and place to film with someone else, you are committing to it no matter what.
This helps eliminate the mindset of thinking your content has to be perfect or that the idea isn’t ready yet. If you keep waiting for your idea to be fully fleshed out, you will never post anything.
Matt said he doesn’t always “feel ready” before his content days, but the schedule forces him to do it anyway, and done is better than perfect.
This isn’t a Christopher Nolan movie. It’s real estate content.
It Goes Down in the DMs
Katie Day just launched a new Instagram account, and it already has 8,000 followers. It’s called @houstonunlocked, and it features hyper-local content, including news headlines, green screens, restaurant recommendations, and new developments.
On The Walk Thru, I asked her how she generates real estate leads from it. She said she is playing the long game, starting with Instagram Stories and polls that lead to DMs and conversations.
This is a great way to build relationships and get to know your audience. Try posting some Story polls, engaging with the responses, and starting conversations. That way, when you eventually introduce more real estate content, you have already built warm connections with your followers.
Best Time to Post
Before I share the data, just know this. When you post is not that important. The quality of your content is what truly determines performance.
That said, the data is still worth knowing.
According to Hootsuite, the best times to post on Instagram are:
- Monday from 3 PM to 9 PM
- Tuesday from 5 AM to 8 AM and from 3 PM to 7 PM
- Thursday from 5 PM to 7 PM
Most engagement happens outside of work hours when people are commuting or taking a break.
For Facebook, the best posting times are early mornings on weekdays.
The key takeaway is that Friday through Sunday did not even make the list. If you have a big video or announcement, it is best to post Monday through Thursday when people are more engaged and not drinking themselves into a stupor!
