Forget cooler temps and pumpkin spice; fall means one thing: football is BACK.

Whether you’re a fan or not, you should definitely trendjack football season because it will be hyper-relevant every single day for the next five months.

Here are ten real estate marketing ideas for football season.

#1—Tell your story as a Reel or Carousel Post

What’s your relationship to football?

People want to work with people who are like them. If you share the same fandom, it just might put you in a better position to be their agent. Also, it’s good to mix up your feed with some personal content that isn’t necessarily related to real estate.

Why are you a fan of a certain team? Where did you go to college? How important is football to you? Who is your biggest rival?

#2—Community Posts

What are your favorite tailgate spots? What do you do for the games? What are the best bars or restaurants to watch? What are your gameday traditions? List your favorites.

#3—News-Based Posts

Be an advocate/local reporter of your market’s football team. Post scores, reactions, roster moves, real estate moves, and gossip surrounding your team. Simple headline posts like these from Kyle Talbot always perform really well. Disclaimer: he’s a Chiefs fan, so if you are triggered by constant winning and Taylor Swift being on TV for five seconds, look away.

Look at the engagement on these posts. He’s going mini-viral in his community with timely football content.

#4—Look for Viral Moments

There will be memes and reactions spreading like wildfire on social for basically every prime-time game from now through January. If you can hit on content in real time, it will also spread like wildfire. We had the first NFL game of the season, and Derrick Gregory got to work immediately.

#5—Sponsor a Team

The DJ & Lindsey Real Estate Team were, at one time, the official real estate agents for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Being aligned with the NFL means their team name is seen by the masses. And we all know that type of exposure is priceless.

Considering there are only 32 teams in the NFL, becoming a sponsor of a pro team might be a tad out of reach and out of budget for most. But there are plenty of sponsorship opportunities when it comes to sports:

  • Find out what it takes to sponsor a college team. Some of these games get as much visibility as NFL games.
  • Connect with your local high school and offer to sponsor the homecoming game.
  • Talk with the organizer of a youth football team to learn how you can support them.

Once a sponsor, show your face and connect with as many people in the stands as you can at games. Sponsoring the teams important to your local community can be just as effective as working with a team in the NFL.

#6—Host a Tailgate or Watch Party

Another way DJ and Lindsey used their sponsorship with the Jacksonville Jaguars was to build team culture. They do this by throwing tailgates for agents and employees at the eight games they take part in at the stadium.

You can take this idea and tailor it to your needs, whether aiming to thank past clients, build team relationships, or attract new leads.

Organize a tailgate at a game near you, or throw a watch party if you want to include more people. Go all out with snacks, prizes, and raffles—and be sure that everything is branded with your logo. Or if you don’t want to go through that hassle, just call your open house a “watch party” and let people know you will have the game on.

#7—Ticket Giveaways

You can also host a contest for ticket giveaways.

Here’s an idea:

Want to get YouTube subscriptions or email subscribers? Create a lead page and do a ticket giveaway to an NFL or college game. All they have to do is submit their email and subscribe to your YouTube channel, and you will announce a random winner on Instagram Live. It’s great content, it’s fun for your followers, and it builds your lists.

Here’s an example:

#8—Pop-bys

Pop-bys are a great way to keep in touch with your sphere. If you know someone is a huge fan of a particular team, send them a new hat or jersey. You can also do the classic team schedule magnets. As a kid, I always looked at my fridge to see when Arizona basketball was playing next – now imagine your big Realtor face staring right back at your clients every time they get a snack! Brilliant!

#9—Guess the Score

Pick an upcoming game and ask your followers to guess the score in the comments of a post. Throw in a gift card to a restaurant for the closest guess, and watch the comments flood in. All those comments are good for the algorithm—and it’s a good way to show some love to a local restaurant or business.

#10—Feature a listing that would have an amazing gameday experience

If you have a listing or see one on a broker’s caravan that has a great football setup, share it and highlight it. This can be a “man cave,” a projector room, an outdoor BBQ and TV, or just a family room with a perfect TV and couch situation.
