18 days left in the year. Most agents will attend their office holiday party and then go radio silent until the second week of January, saying, “It’s dead anyway…what’s the point?”

But not you. You’ll keep posting and getting more engagement than everyone else because you read this blog!

I already shared some of these tips in my December Content Ideas blog, but here’s a quick refresher to help you stay on track and maximize engagement through the end of 2024.

#1: Use Holiday audios in your Reels

In the simplest form of trendjacking, before you publish a post, go to “search music” and type in “Holiday” or “Christmas,” and you will be served a menu of perfect audios for your content.

By the way, I have noticed a significant engagement boost in all carousels and standard feed posts when I include audio compared to when I do not. So, definitely test it out.

#2: Wear Holiday attire in your videos

Sounds dumb and simple, but it’s the subtle touches like this that can make people stop or stay on your content for longer. Throw a Santa hat on or a Christmas-colored sweater and it can help act as a visual hook to keep people more engaged. See the below example from Taya DiCarlo

Naples Natalie took it a step further and put the Santa hat on in her IG profile. She is also doing a 12 days of Christmas giveaway where she partners with local brands for giveaways. That link in her bio goes to an email capture where people can enter. Brilliant move!

#3: Use Text-Based Hooks

Your goal with every post should be to STOP THE SCROLL. You can do this with a strong verbal hook, text-based hook, visual hook, and caption hook. If you film a video where your verbal hook sucks, make sure you put some text on it to capture people’s attention.

Check out the example below where I added the text-based hook “Sneaky Listing Video” to capture the people who may have the volume off.

#4: Collab with local businesses

December is the perfect time to post content around local businesses, events, and charities that you work with during the Holiday Season. Invite the businesses to collab so you can reach their audience and they can reach yours. This is one of the easiest ways to grow, as the content is shown in the feeds of both accounts.

Check out this example from Alyssa Curnutt. She combines a powerful hook, holiday audio, and a collab!

#5: Engage with your followers and other accounts

We often forget that social is supposed to be SOCIAL.

You can grow your account and help your own engagement by spending some time each day engaging with other people’s content. Respond to your client’s stories, leave encouraging comments, and support your friends on their posts.

Remember, social media is reciprocal.

#6: Share more personal content

December is the time of year to show your family and holiday traditions. Sharing a new listing on Christmas Eve will get zero engagement. Drop the real estate content around the holidays and get personal!
