Ryan Serhant made a bold call about the future of brokerages, and it’s already stirring up debate across the industry.
If you tuned in for last week’s Knowledge Brokers Podcast, you heard Byron Lazine mention the bombshell Ryan Serhant dropped during a panel discussion.
In a nutshell, Serhant predicted that, by 2030, only two major brokerages will survive.
“I do think that by 2030, there will only be two major real estate firms of note. One will be Compass and one will be us.”
Serhant dropped this line on stage at Inman Connect. Inman shared a clip of that discussion in an Instagram post.

Most commenters were quick to disagree, some more diplomatically than others.
Ryan Serhant Predicts Just Two Major Brokerages by 2030
Here’s what Serhant said next to expand on his prediction:
“One will focus on property as platform. One will focus on the person as the platform. Everybody else, I’m sorry to say, I think will be an afterthought.”
That line is what really got people talking.
On the whole, folks in the comments respectfully disagreed with Serhant’s prediction but admired the confidence behind it. Serhant believes his brokerage will not only survive but dominate in the next few years. And anyone working for him would want to hear that.
There’s a palpable pride in the SERHANT. brand that goes beyond the price point of the properties they typically deal with.
“If you could see what we are working on in the background, and what we’re building, and what we still have to come through this year, I’ve never felt more optimistic and more excited. Otherwise, I wouldn’t do this.”
As for the company SERHANT. will have in the “major brokerage” space, plenty of commenters suggested other contenders, including Real Brokerage, eXp, Sotheby’s, and Douglass Elliman.
And some made predictions of their own.
Here are a sampling of those comments:

So, where do you weigh in on this? Do you agree with Serhant’s prediction? Or do you disagree but think the comments are missing something you’d like to point out?
