Ryan Serhant’s brokerage is celebrating five years in business, with one big surprise.

His wife, Emilia Bechrakis Serhant, has joined SERHANT. as a licensed real estate agent. And while the timing makes headlines on its own, the reasons behind her move aren’t what most people might expect.

For one, Emilia didn’t make this leap simply because her husband happens to be the CEO.

In fact, she’s bringing a career path and skill set that make her entry into the industry look like a natural next step.

From Courtrooms to Contracts

Before stepping into the brokerage world, Emilia built an impressive résumé. She earned three law degrees from top universities in the U.K. and worked as a maritime lawyer until 2016. After that, she transitioned into the land title insurance business, taking on roles with some of the largest companies in the field, including Commonwealth Land Title Insurance and Kensington Vanguard National Land Services.

This background means she’s been dealing with high-value contracts and real estate transactions for years, just from a different angle.

Now, as a licensed agent, she’s moving from reviewing the fine print to helping clients through the full process of buying and selling.

Why She Chose SERHANT.

In a press release shared with Realtor.com, Emilia explained that her interest in real estate began long before she met Ryan.

“Growing up in a real estate family between New York and Athens, I have always had a passion for the business.”

When it came to choosing a brokerage, she stated that her decision wasn’t based solely on proximity to her husband’s company.

“When it came to choosing a brokerage and reviewing my options, and after weighing them all carefully, I ultimately chose SERHANT. Of course, that decision had absolutely nothing to do with my husband; it’s simply the best and most innovative firm to build a career in real estate today.”

Her statement highlights two things: a personal connection to the business and her confidence in the tools, resources, and culture Ryan’s firm has built over the past five years.

The Timing of the Announcement

The news comes as SERHANT. celebrates its fifth anniversary, and it broke during the firm’s annual three-day training conference in Orlando.

Ryan teased the surprise on Instagram with a photo of himself and Emilia at the event, captioned, “Day 2 has some BIG surprises.”

It’s a fitting stage for Emilia’s introduction to the firm. The conference is known for focusing on innovation, team building, and agent growth—all themes that line up with her comments about why she joined.

Ryan’s Take on the Hire

If there’s anyone more enthusiastic about the move than Emilia, it’s Ryan himself. In a statement, he praised her drive and accomplishments across multiple industries.

“Emilia is brilliant, determined, and has already achieved so much in her career. SERHANT. has grown bigger and more successful than we ever imagined, providing the resources, support, and platform for top agents and teams to thrive with AI, media, and educational support.”

His comments point to the larger context: Emilia isn’t just joining as his partner in life but as someone with the professional credibility and determination to carve out her own space in the industry.

Beyond Brokerage

This isn’t Emilia’s first public role connected to real estate. She appeared on Season 1 of Netflix’s Owning Manhattan, alongside Ryan, and previously featured on Million Dollar Listing New York and its spinoffs Ryan’s Wedding and Ryan’s Renovation.

She’s also made her mark outside of television and real estate.

Emilia has volunteered with Building Better Futures and Water.org, and she authored the children’s book To the Moon and Back for You, inspired by her fertility journey.

For SERHANT., her presence at the brokerage expands more than the headcount. It adds a new layer of experience and visibility to a firm already known for blending media and real estate.

Emilia’s decision to join the company reflects both her personal history with real estate and her belief in the firm’s platform. For agents watching this move, it’s a reminder that careers in real estate often pull from a wide range of backgrounds, and that sometimes, the next step forward can look like a homecoming.
