Every real estate agent can receive thousands of views per month on Google Maps…without spending a dollar.

In the competitive real estate landscape, establishing a robust online presence is not just an option—it’s a necessity. Fortunately, you can get there as a real estate agent in just 1-2 hours per month by following these four steps.

Step 1: Optimize Your Google Business Profile:

This first step is optimizing your Google Business Profile. Think of your profile as a digital storefront—complete and inviting. Take inspiration from successful listings, experiment with different approaches, and consistently track your progress to claim your spot among the top three.

Here are a few things to focus on as you get started:

  • Use relevant keywords focused on your service and location
  • Use those keywords in your business description
  • Fill out all of your info: address, hours, website, categories, services, etc

The more complete, the better.

Step 2: Post Regularly

One of the best ways to improve your ranking is to show Google you’re actively in business and you’re invested in the platform. You do that by making posts.

Posts can include new listings, open houses, local market updates, etc. Here’s a new listing post from Chinatti Realty:

Like anything else, consistency is the foundation of maintaining and improving your online ranking. Follow a simple yet effective posting schedule—3 to 4 times a month—using keywords strategically and maintaining a rhythm that reflects your commitment.

Step 3: Get Reviews

Reviews are one of the biggest needle-movers for a higher ranking. You’ll notice the top listings usually have the most reviews. There’s a reason for that.

Reviews signal trust and credibility better than just about anything. Google wants to recommend businesses that are trusted in the community.

Don’t be shy about asking for reviews from your clients; in fact, make it a proactive part of your strategy. Positive reviews not only enhance your online reputation but also contribute significantly to your search engine ranking.

Step 4: Build Trust

This one is so obvious, yet most people don’t do it. Get your name, address, and phone number in as many directories as possible. That includes places such as Yelp, Realtor.com, Zillow and Homes.com.

This serves two big purposes:

  • It helps Google verify your business identity across the web, establishing you as more legitimate.
  • It strengthens your local SEO (search engine optimization) by associating your business with your geographic area.

A good number of directories to aim for is between 25-50. Doing this will set you apart from the majority of listings.

To recap, here’s what you should do after reading this email:

  1. Set up your Google Business Profile
  2. Create a few posts
  3. Ask for reviews
  4. Add yourself to online directories
  5. Repeat steps 2-3, CONSISTENTLY

That’s it. From there, all you have to do is watch your business rise in the rankings.
