FIRST: Whatever you do, do NOT post or send a generic Happy Thanksgiving message. Nobody needs to see that RE/MAX branded turkey, and everyone already knows it’s Thanksgiving.
Those posts don’t do anything for anyone. It’s not 2018 anymore, and a “post just to post” is not an effective strategy.
Okay, now we got that out of the way, here are five things you can post on Thanksgiving Day.
1. What are you thankful for?
Make an actual list and post it as text-only or write a note in your phone and Green Screen it. This can be personal, real estate-focused, or both.
For example: your brokerage, your team, your vendors, lock boxes that open on the first try, your family that puts up with your unpredictable schedule, your clients, or certain local businesses that make your life better. People appreciate sincerity.

2. Send voice message DMs to your clients
Tell them you’re thankful for them. This is less intrusive than a text, and it feels personal.
Also, if you send it to your clients over Instagram and they respond, that DM conversation juices your algorithm so it will have a positive impact on your feed posts. Personal messages and voice memos have a far greater impact than copy-pasted text.
Don’t make them too long though…otherwise it’s kind of creepy.
3. Rank your favorite Thanksgiving foods
This has nothing to do with real estate, and that’s fine. But I guarantee that if you start a video saying, “These are my top three favorite foods on Thanksgiving,” people will watch because everyone loves to debate, see, and consume content about food.
Make sure you ask people in your caption what their favorites are to get a debate going.
4. Highlight Relevant Listings
If you have any listings that have epic dining rooms or living rooms for hosting, highlight those.
Probably not the best day to “sell a listing” but you can do it in a classy way that is showcasing the features people are thinking about in the moment.
5. Share Market Stats
Post a snapshot of what home prices, inventory levels, and days on market were like this year on Thanksgiving compared to last year.
This is an easy graphic to share that will catch the eye of the Turkey Scrollers!

6. Don’t post anything about real estate
The holidays are a great time to show your friends, family, and traditions. Document your Thanksgiving experience with your family in IG stories. What movies are you watching? What sports? What are you drinking? What games are you playing?
Some of the best content is what gets you personally connected to your followers. If they share similar life experiences to you they will be more likely to work with you!
Have a great Thanksgiving! If I catch you posting a generic message, I will find you and report you to NAR.
