It’s November. All of humanity is focused on the election in four days. But, YOU are focused on your marketing because you are reading this blog. Good for you. The real estate gods will reward you for your commitment to improving your digital brand. Stay off X and focus on what you can control (says the guy whose happiness hinges on sports and politics).
Anyway, let’s get into some content ideas for this fall.
*WARNING: I included a lot of fake holidays in this one to spark some hyper-local community ideas*
November 1st: The season begins
Starting today, you are officially allowed to start trendjacking Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or whatever it is that you celebrate!
This means holiday audios on your Reels, holiday home decor tips, gift guides, recipes, hometown traditions, and winter home maintenance tips. This is also a great time to give back and highlight the charities you work with.
In general, your content over the next couple of months should include the themes of thankfulness, giving, and general holiday cheer.
November 3rd: Daylight Savings Time ENDS and National Sandwich Day
This is the one where clocks go BACK, giving everyone an extra hour of sleep. As always, if you are going to send an email blast about this, please include something other than “Turn your clocks back, everyone!”
Provide more value with a market snapshot of what the market looked like during “Spring Forward” vs. now. People know it’s Daylight Savings time without their real estate agent letting them know. In fact, don’t post about this at all and forget you read it was happening.
Instead, post about National Sandwich Day. Film a Reel about your favorite sandwich in your local market. Food reviews crush and you can always relate it back to real estate, talking about the history of the restaurant or the significance of the area.
November 11th: Veteran’s Day
Here are a few content ideas fro Veteran’s Day:
- VA Loan Awareness Post: Create a post explaining VA loans and how they help veterans buy homes with little to no down payment. This can include eligibility details, benefits of the program, and tips for veterans looking to start the home-buying process.
- Highlight Local Veteran-Friendly Resources: Showcase local businesses or community resources that offer discounts or support for veterans, such as discounts on home goods, repair services, or mortgage companies specializing in VA loans.
- Veteran Testimonial or Client Story: If you’ve helped a veteran buy or sell a home, consider sharing their story (with their permission) as a tribute.
- Thank You Message: Post a simple but heartfelt thank-you message to veterans.
November 15th: National Philanthropy Day
List your favorite charities and why you donate to them. This can be an in-person Reel, Green Screen, or Notes list.
November 16th: National Fast Food Day
Talk about your favorite fast foods on the go as a real estate agent. What do you like to eat in your car in between showings? If your market has a fast food place unique to your city, talk about it and its significance to the community.
Try something like this from Alyssa Curnutt:
November 17th: National Hiking Day
Share your favorite hiking trails in your local market.
November 22nd: National Go For a Ride Day
Film B-Roll of your favorite scenic drive in your local market. (BTW, I know how stupid all of these fake holidays are, but they really do make for good content inspiration. You obviously don’t have to address the “holiday” in your post.)
Also, anytime you mention traffic, it always sparks engagement and gets people fired up! Check out this example of a “car route post” from Natalie Perez-Benitoa.
November 28th: Thanksgiving Day
As always, let’s start by talking about something you should not post. On Thanksgiving, do NOT, I repeat do NOT post a generic Holiday graphic with some RE/MAX branded turkey that says, “Happy Thanksgiving.” You are better off not posting at all than using a brokerage template that has zero meaning. Also, don’t send a generic email blast that says “Happy Thanksgiving” with no other point other than to stay “top of mind with your database.” If you’re going to send this email, at least include what you are thankful for.
Now, on to what you can post.
Post what you’re thankful for. Do a Reel or slideshow post on Instagram listing what you’re thankful for in life or in the real estate industry. Maybe it’s your clients, vendors, title reps, the marketing department at your brokerage, your team, or even your spouse who puts up with the fact that you work weekends. Sentimental thankful posts always play.
Talk about what it’s like looking for houses around the holidays. Why should you look right now? Less buyer competition, more negotiating power, etc.
Send voice message DMs to your clients telling them you’re thankful for them. This is less intrusive than a text, and it feels personal. Also, if you send it to your clients over Instagram and they respond, that DM conversation juices your algorithm so it will have a positive impact on your feed posts. Personal messages and voice memos have a far greater impact than copy-pasted text. Don’t make them too long though…otherwise it’s kind of creepy.
Rank your favorite Thanksgiving foods. This has nothing to do with real estate, and that’s fine. But I guarantee that if you start a video saying, “These are my top three favorite foods on Thanksgiving,” people will watch because everyone loves to debate, see, and consume content about food. Make sure you ask people in your caption what their favorites are to get a debate going.
If you have any listings that have epic dining rooms for hosting a Thanksgiving feast, definitely highlight those.
Don’t post anything about real estate. The holidays are a great time to show your friends, family, and traditions. Document your Thanksgiving experience with your family in IG stories. Some of the best content is what gets you personally connected to your followers. If they share similar life experiences to you they will be more likely to work with you!

November Social Media Tips
I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT increase in engagement with pictures and carousels when I include music. This is confirmed as IG CEO Adam Mosseri recently said he recommends that users upload photos/carousels with a song attached.
But, make sure the audio is correlated with what you’re posting. It should capture the vibe of the photos. For example, don’t put “Something in the Way” by Nirvana on a happy closing pic.
Here is what Mosseri said:
