I’m writing this for every agent out there who’s burned out, creatively fried, getting no engagement, or wondering if they should just give up posting and just make calls all day.

Let’s start with the bad news.

It’s 2025, and it’s harder than ever to stand out on social platforms. Every single person on planet Earth is a content creator now. When I got into real estate in 2014, almost no one had a posting strategy, and if you were making videos for Facebook or doing anything remotely untraditional, you were probably the only one in your market doing it. And you were rewarded for it with every post.

Now, every agent is becoming their own media company (as they should). Everyone has an Instagram, a YouTube channel, an email newsletter, and…unfortunately, …a podcast.

So naturally, there’s more competition. More agents. More content. More noise.

And let’s not forget: the algorithm decides who sees your content now because it knows exactly who will want to see it. Follower counts mean less than ever before. People don’t need to follow you anymore because AI already knows what they want. So, if your follower growth is flat, it’s not because your content stinks. It’s because nobody’s hitting that button like they used to.

Engagement? Even tougher. The volume of posts is absurd, and standing out is getting more and more difficult. So, if you’re feeling down or frustrated, just know that it’s happening to everyone!

Now for the good news.

Unlike the old days, where you had to build a following before you could get engagement, now each post is judged individually. That means every post is a new shot. A new opportunity. To seize everything you ever wanted…

You don’t have to have 50,000 followers to get 50,000 views.

But, here’s the real takeaway that I want you to understand:

Creating content is a long, emotional, painful grind. It’s inconsistent and often thankless. Some days, you’ll feel like a genius. Other days, you’ll wonder if you should delete your account and start selling solar panels.

There are stretches where everything flops. No comments. No views. You try a new trend, a voiceover, a market update, a hyper-local review…and nothing. Meanwhile, someone lip-syncs from their car and pulls 30,000 views for saying the same thing you’ve been saying for months.

And then, out of nowhere, you’ll post something half-baked, and it will hit. That’s how this works.

Creativity comes in waves. Confidence comes and goes. Sometimes, the algorithm gives you a break. Sometimes, it punches you in the face.

It’s all about staying in the game and surviving longer than your competition.

This is not a sprint. It’s not one viral Reel that floods your messages with leads. It’s a marathon. A content-based endurance test where you question your life choices every time a post gets four likes—two of which are from your own alternate accounts—and your listing video that you spent $2,000 on gets outperformed by a picture of your dog.

We’ve all been there.

The agents who win aren’t the ones who never flop. They’re the ones who keep flopping and keep going. They look at the posts that didn’t perform well as data and look to improve on it.

The ones who keep refining their message and learning what actually hits with their audience.

That’s when it works. That’s when the results come. That’s when you build something real. Not a one-hit wonder, but an actual brand that lasts.

So yeah, it sucks sometimes. But it’s still the best long-term play you can make.

Keep posting. Keep testing. Keep failing. Keep learning.
