This week, I was scrolling Instagram and came across a Gary Vee post that immediately captured my attention.
The Power of a Scroll-Stopping Hook
First off, how good is that hook?
“I’m deleting my Instagram tomorrow.”
This got me to stop immediately and swipe to the next slide, which was a video on how to add his account to Favorites. This post is a reminder that the hook on a carousel post is just as important as the hook on a video.
The Hack: Getting Added to Favorites
Once you swipe, Gary says, “so many of you can hack the algorithm by doing this.”
So, what you can do is make a similar video. Instead of posting on your feed, it might work even better on your stories. This can also encourage your followers to add you to their favorites so they actually SEE your content.
All your followers have to do is click the following button on your account and then click “Add To Favorites.”
If a bunch of your followers do this, you will pop up in their feed more consistently. And that means your engagement will increase dramatically.
Hacks like this are necessary in today’s social media landscape as AI algorithms continue to feed us content that we “want” to see, regardless of who we actually follow.
As I mentioned earlier this month, followers matter less and less every day.
