Last Friday, The Broke Agent posted this question on Facebook:

“What’s the biggest sign that it’s time to switch brokerages?”

It didn’t take long before the floodgates opened. Agents shared reasons they’ve switched brokerages as well as reasons they would switch.

And, as always, we’re sharing several of their comments below.

Can you guess what reasons surfaced the most? (Hint: it’s not all about splits. While that did come up, it didn’t come close to ranking as the #1 beef.)

Take a look for yourself and see which ones have you nodding your head.

Brokerage Red Flags that Send Agents Packing

One agent mentioned splits being too high, but they mentioned it in tandem with a lack of appreciation from brokerage leadership. Another agent felt disrespected by her broker, while another felt manipulated to “keep it in the family.”

Overall, the lack of training and support ranked higher among agents’ reasons for leaving a brokerage. Splits came in after that, along with an ever-growing list of fees and demands.

One agent remarked on leadership’s hostile attitude toward agents asking questions.

If you’ve been in the industry long enough, you probably have stories of your own. Whether you share them or just take comfort in knowing you’re not alone is your call.

Here’s that glorious sampling we promised:
