Speed home tours are a popular trend for Gen Z content creators, zipping through a house to show all the best features in a matter of seconds.
In a funny twist on the trend, Shane Burgman posted a reel with the words, “Trying to make trendy content after age 40.” If you’re in your 40s and up, it’s almost painfully relatable.
But also pretty fun to watch.

Here’s why this works and what agents can take from it.
Why This Works
It starts with Shane on the sidewalk as the camera starts rolling. He turns and runs toward the front door, and in a matter of seconds, he’s limping and favoring one knee. He stops and directs the one holding the camera to go on without him while he pauses to catch a breath.
As the camera ventures out the patio door, we see Shane taking one of the chairs near the pool. Still obviously in pain, he tells the one with the camera, “Show the master.”
And as the camera exits the master bedroom, he crashes into Shane.
Recovering, the camera guy once again follows Shane, who says, “Get that one” pointing at another room before limping back out the front door.
Back at his starting point on the sidewalk, Shane stops, panting and practically doubled over as he ends with the home address: “730 Palmer Way.”
And it’s a wrap.
Most of the comments show viewers laughing and pointing out how relatable this reel is for anyone not in their 20s. Or 30s. One even commented, “Wait ‘til you’re almost 60.”
So, if Shane’s post had you laughing (and feeling personally called out), and you’d like to create something along the same lines, read on for the recipe.
How to Create a Post Like Shane’s
The basic ingredients for this post:
- Take a high-energy video trend popularized by Gen Z (like speed home tours).
- Add a real estate agent in their 40s (or 50s, 60s, etc.)
- Open the reel in a way that mimics a Gen Z opening (like running to the front door)
- Enter the midlife “twist”: abruptly change the 20-something vibe to something more relatable to viewers in their 40s and up
- Add a text overlay similar to Shane’s “Trying to make trendy content after 40.”
- Don’t forget a background audio track to set a mood
- Add gratuitous physical comedy (like seasoning, to taste)
And leave it to Shane Burgman to show us all how it’s done.
Are you up to the challenge?
Or would you rather just nominate this reel for a BAMMYs 2026 award? We get a feeling this will be a fun one to revisit in December.
