Shannon Gillette leads one of the top-producing teams in the country at Real Broker. Her team sells hundreds of homes a year without buying a single lead, and she built a following of more than 100,000 on Instagram along the way.
When she opened a new content series this month, she laid out the content mistake most agents make: overthinking costs you business.
Even a great agent can lose business opportunities to someone else because they have zero online presence. Posting content feels risky, and the fear of judgment keeps a lot of agents from publishing their posts, or even from creating any.
Gillette built her new series, Agent Reset, around fixing exactly that. Here’s how she describes the series and what agents will get from following it:
“This is Part 1 of Agent Reset, a 10-part mini series where I’m sharing practical things you can do to become more visible, create better content and attract more clients to you.”

We’re breaking down why the signature series format works and why Gillette’s first lesson is a must-watch for real estate agents, including those who are posting on IG but getting no engagement.
Get ready to change that.
Anatomy of a Signature Series
Treat Agent Reset as a format and a few deliberate choices stand out.
#1. Name & Number. Gillette gives the series a name and introduces the first post. A name and a number do a lot of the work. Agent Reset, Part 1 of 10, with a new post going up each day, turns a single post into something a reader wants to follow instead of scrolling past.
#2. Proof. Gillette also leads with credibility before she gives a single tip:
- Leads one of the top-producing teams in the country at Real Broker
- Sells hundreds of homes a year without buying leads
- Built a following of more than 100,000 on Instagram
#3. Direction. The caption also lays out where the rest of the series is headed:
- What to post
- Storytelling
- Stories
- Video
- Repurposing content
- Client events
#4. Personal Admission. Then comes Gillette’s admission that this is the kind of series she would have appreciated when she was starting out.
Her personal story is the seed for part one.
The Genius of Part 1: Stop Overthinking & Just Post
Gillette doesn’t hide the fact that her earliest content was “cringey.” She says she can hardly watch some of those first videos now.
Gillette put it this way when describing those early days:
“I was making content when hardly anyone was watching, and I’m sure people laughed, and I’m sure people called me cringy, but I kept posting anyway, and I’m so glad I did.”
She kept going. Her advice for agents starting their own reset comes down to one line, which she put in her caption:
“Your first reset is simple: Stop overthinking. Just hit post.”
Consistency Over Virality
Gillette’s bigger point is about what happens after the first post goes up. Regular exposure to the right audience builds a business better than one big view count does.
She explained the math this way:
“You don’t need one video to get a million views. You need the right people to see you consistently. Consistent views from the right people beat one viral video every time.”
Gillette also answers the excuse agents give most for not posting: not knowing what to say.
Agents already have the content. They answer client questions every day about one of the biggest purchases in a person’s life. This knowledge is the content.
On the topic of polish, Gillette pushes back on the instinct to make everything perfect.
AI tools can make any photo or caption look flawless, which is why she believes raw, unpolished content stands out.
In her words:
“We live in a world where AI can make anything look perfect, and people are craving real. There are even people posting typos and messy hair on purpose because perfection doesn’t feel authentic anymore.”
For Gillette, the stakes come down to business math. The agent who posts is the one a buyer or seller remembers when they need help this week. The agent who stays quiet out of a little embarrassment risks losing that same client to someone willing to put themselves out there.
Stay Tuned for Parts 2-10
Part 2 of Agent Reset goes up the next day, continuing a daily run of lessons that will stretch across a week and a half.
The real test for readers doesn’t wait until Part 2. It means applying the lesson from Part 1 before Part 2 arrives: stop holding back whatever post has been sitting in drafts, and hit publish.
Or create something new, inspired by something you learned this week. And set it live.

Each post builds on the one before it, and Gillette has nine more resets to deliver.
