It’s October 1st. This means two things:

  2. Things are getting spooky.

Let’s give you some content ideas to crush this month and distract you from the upcoming election…

Starting today, you have carte blanche to post Halloween-type content for the next 31 days. A month-long trendjack that will boost your engagement and remain hyper-relevant until November 1st. Let’s rapid-fire here.

1. Creepy findings on your real estate journey.

On your Instagram stories or your feed, post all the creepy things that make your skin crawl. Take photos of eerie crawl spaces, unsettling hallways, mysterious rooms, writing on the walls, and the dolls the seller keeps leaving out for some reason. You can create a story template or a “signature series” that people keep coming back to. Once people see a few posts on it, they will be excited to see more and you will see your engagement skyrocket. For audio, type in “Halloween, spooky, or scary” to add music to your stories or feed posts.

2. Horror movie memes.

Use scenes from horror movies to post some relatable real estate memes.

3. Pumpkin Drop-Off

Do something with pumpkins. Host a networking event at a pumpkin patch. Hold a pumpkin giveaway. Sit on them. Drop off pumpkins and carving kits to your clients. Carve your logo into a pumpkin like an absolute psychopath! 

4. Halloween Decorations Tour

Take your followers on a tour of houses with the craziest Halloween decorations. You can do a car-view POV or actually stand out in front of them. Everyone knows “that house” that is always decked out for Halloween. It could be cool to get the backstory on it and interview the homeowners.

If you do a decoration tour, mention houses you’ve sold in the neighborhood, describe the areas, and talk about the advantages and disadvantages of the locations. This can be a great way to showcase your market knowledge with a twist and without talking about your own listing. 

5. Good or Bad?

Easy hook idea: If you’re listing your house in October, should you still decorate your house for Halloween? Here are the pros and cons – then voice your opinion.

(This is probably not a good idea.)

6. Local Halloween-Related Events

Make a list of your favorite Halloween/Fall activities: go-to pumpkin patches, Halloween parties, haunted houses, costume shops, costume parties, etc.

7. Candy Reels & Stories

Want to start conversations and debates in the comments? List your favorite candies and ask your followers what they think. Better yet, bring candy bowls to your open house and take note of what people choose. This can be a “candy-study” that sparks opinionated responses and also promotes your open house.

8. Dress up and show a house in your Halloween costume. 

This one got a ton of attention a few years ago. 

9. Pumpkin-Spice

List your favorite coffee shops and the best one to get a pumpkin-spice latte. Try to collab with the coffee shop Instagram accounts to get more exposure.

10. Tell Your Real Estate Horror Stories

This is a great time for talking-head style Reels, where you sit down with a mic and talk about the most unsettling things that have happened to you during real estate. Did you hear a noise? Did a ghost close a door on you? Did you have a creepy client?

October Dates To Keep In Mind for Content

October 1st: The baseball playoffs start today. Football all month. If you have a team, create content around it like Kyle Talbot in Kansas City.
