Instagram just gave creators a new hub for episodic content.
The new Series feature carves out a dedicated section on your profile for signature series and adds a “watch next” button, the same experience viewers get on a streaming platform.
Real estate agent and content creator Julia Broome broke down what the feature does and why it matters for real estate agents building a following on Instagram.
In her words:
“This is a retention feature that has the potential to bring you more reach, more views, and more followers.”
Instagram is now built to reward creators who show up with a recognizable, recurring series. Here’s the move for agents who want in.

What the Feature Does and Why It Works
A viewer watches one of your reels, then gets a “watch next” prompt, pulling them into the next episode of your series.
Here’s how Broome explained it:
“So, basically, instead of a viewer stumbling across one of your random reels and then leaving your profile, they can now seamlessly binge your content in order episode after episode.”
One video now pulls a viewer into a binge session. That means more time on your profile and more chances for someone to remember your name, your face, and something they like about your content.
Broome frames the payoff as recognition.
“Your signature series transforms you from someone on the internet to someone recognizable on the internet.”
As Broome’s caption points out (emphatically), Instagram’s algorithm is now set up to reward that kind of creator:
“THE ALGORITHM WANTS YOU TO HAVE A SIGNATURE SERIES!!”
For agents, that means picking one format and running it every week:
- This week in [Market] real estate….
- A listing walkthrough series
- A client Q&A series
- A hyperlocal series on hidden gems in [Market]
Whatever the format, it needs to repeat on a schedule so viewers know when to come back. Of course, that’s assuming each video makes them want to click on the next one.
In other words, Instagram’s new feature gives you an edge if, and only if, your content is something your audience wants to see more of.
Build the Series, Don’t Wing the Reel
Broome’s advice for using the feature is all about mindset:
“I want you to think about your signature series like it’s a weekly episode from a TV series.”
Put another way, agents need to stop asking what to post this week and start asking what this week’s episode looks like.
Broome also drew a clear line around what doesn’t count.
“Look, I’m sorry, but a ‘get ready with me’ series is not going to cut it.”
If you’re wondering if your series idea is worth the time it would take to create it, ask yourself, “Would I binge-watch something like this?”
If the answer is “Not likely” or a shrug, maybe workshop a few more ideas.
Once you’ve got something solid, here’s the move:
- Pick a series format this week
- Commit to posting it on a set day
- Treat every episode like the show is actually on
Agents who build that habit now get a head start with an algorithm that’s now set up to reward them for it.
