Instagram just dropped a new feature that could change how people engage with your content.

It’s called “Linked Reels,” and it gives creators the ability to connect their short-form videos with a clickable button that sends viewers from one Reel to the next.

In a new carousel post, Instagram growth coach Brock Johnson broke it down:

Read on for the highlights.

How Linked Reels Work

The new option shows up in the Reels menu, where creators can link one video to another in just a few taps. It won’t replace your captions or hashtags, but it does give you a direct way to keep people watching without leaving it up to chance.

Based on Johnson’s breakdown, the new feature is especially handy for:

  • Series or recurring segments where you want viewers to follow along.
  • Educational or step-by-step content that can’t fit into one clip.
  • Multi-part property tours where you don’t want viewers to miss a room.

In his post, Johnson called it “a super useful tool for series, recurring segments, or Reels that require multiple ‘parts.’”

The Limitations (and a Possible Hint of What’s Coming)

Before you get too excited about linking out to your website or listing page, here’s the catch: Linked Reels only connect to other Reels. You can’t use the button to send people to a non-Reel feed post, Story, or external link.

Johnson noted that while this might hint at Instagram eventually allowing website links inside Reels, that hasn’t been announced.

For now, Linked Reels are strictly an in-app way to keep viewers engaged with your content.

Why It Matters for Real Estate Agents

For agents using Instagram to grow their business, this update is more than a fun new button. It’s a tool that can help keep leads engaged longer and guide them through the type of content that builds trust and authority.

Imagine being able to:

  • Break down a market update into multiple clips and link them together so viewers see the full story.
  • Share a three-part home tour where each video flows seamlessly into the next.
  • Create a recurring “Tips Tuesday” series and link episodes so new followers can binge-watch like a Netflix show.

By removing the guesswork of finding “part two” (or worse, losing viewers altogether), Linked Reels give you a new way to control the flow of your content.

Final Takeaways

Linked Reels are a small but powerful update for agents who treat Instagram like a business tool, not just a social app. Use it to keep your audience engaged, highlight your expertise in a structured way, and encourage people to watch more of your content in sequence.

It won’t replace website links or lead forms, but it can keep people watching longer, which is often the first step toward building relationships that turn into clients.
