Pop-Tarts has taken a spin on its holiday marketing by pairing a holiday tradition with a prize that speaks to prospective buyers everywhere.

With the return of their gingerbread flavor, PopTarts is celebrating the joy of homeownership with a creative challenge: build your own Frosted Gingerbread Pop-Tarts dream house for a chance to win $15,000 toward a real dream home.

The Gingerbread Pop-Tarts Lodge

To kick off the contest, Pop-Tarts teamed up with Zillow to list the first-ever Gingerbread Pop-Tarts house, complete with pictures that showcase the lodge’s obvious curb appeal and tastefully-decorated interior.

Pop-Tarts architects and interior designers went all out on this one. And don’t miss the Realtor’s Description, which is too good to paraphrase. It may even give you a few ideas for your own listings this winter:

Just north of the Wild Berry Woods in the foothills of the Applefritterlachians, this pantry-style farmhouse features immaculately frosted finishings, a toasty interior, and ample acreage – provided you’re roughly the size of Frosted Gingerbread Pop-Tarts.

Easy access is baked into the kitchen and living room courtesy of a Frosted Chocolate Chip archway that provides seamless flow, making it a breeze to segue between eating, entertaining, or unwinding after a long day of running, running as fast as you can. The kitchen features original to the home tile, built-in Frosted Raspberry cabinets, and plenty of Frosted Cookies & Crème counterspace. Entertaining a baker’s dozen? The spacious living room – complete with an artisanally crafted Eggo Frosted Maple Flavor area rug and mid-century modern Frosted Chocolate Fudge furnishings – is fit for a full-on party that is anything but cookie-cutter. Keen eyes will note the limited edition artwork on the delicious Frosted Gingerbread Pop-Tarts above the fireplace. In the bedroom upstairs, just beyond the beautifully restored Frosted Apple Fritter wallpaper, a sun-drenched reading nook looks out on all .0006 acres of property. All-in-all, this pastoral palace has to be seen – and tasted – to be believed.

The question now is how many will accept the challenge and build something to rival this genius listing—and who will win the prize.

Given today’s higher cost of purchasing a home, that $15,000 would come in awfully handy.

The Contest

Veteran gingerbread house-makers are rolling up their sleeves already, joined by creatives with more zeal than experience and a willingness to learn as they go. There’s no guarantee that the most experienced builder or designer will win. But knowledge and skill certainly can’t hurt.

Anyone can enter by posting a picture of their Pop-Tarts Gingerbread house on Instagram or Twitter with #GingerbreadPopTartEntry.

And if you’ve got a brilliant idea for a Pop-Tarts Gingerbread dream home but would rather not put together a three-dimensional building with all the (edible) details, there are other ways to win. You don’t even have to buy anything to enter.

That’s good news for creatives who don’t have a safe place to build an edible house—or don’t trust themselves to build anything that would remain standing long enough to take a picture.

Contest rules – in a nutshell

To have a shot at the $15,000 prize, you must have internet access and an account on Instagram or Twitter to enter via social media.

The contest is open to all legal residents of the 50 U.S. states and D.C. who are 13 years of age or older. It begins at midnight Eastern Time on 7/25/22 and ends 11:59:59 PM ET on 12/16/22.

Entering by mail is also an option – as is designing a Gingerbread PopTarts home digitally or on paper.

See the official rules for more details.
