With less than three months left in 2026, there’s still time to reconnect with past clients, uncover new opportunities, and build momentum heading into 2027. The question is where to start.

Jason Cassity, Chief Growth Officer for REAL, recently shared a simple strategy he’d use if he were an agent looking to close one more deal before the year ends.

He calls it the “end of the year clean-up,” and it starts with something you probably haven’t looked through in years: your phone’s contact list.

Here’s how to turn a routine contact cleanup into new conversations, potential business, and a head start on 2027.

Start at A and Clean Up Every Contact

All you need for the first step is your phone and some time. Cassity says to open your contacts, start with the A’s and work your way down the list.

“Literally just clean up all of your contacts. You can already see how many duplicates I have in here.”

As you scroll, you’ll run into people you haven’t talked to in a while. A post you saw from a client training for a race or sending vacation photos can give you an easy excuse to send a quick hello.

Cassity figures you could end up reaching out to somewhere between 20 and 50 people before you finish the list.

Every contact should come out of the cleanup with current info. Cassity lists what each record needs:

“Make sure everybody has an updated email, phone number, and, if you have it, their home address.”

Export the List and Put It to Work

Once your contacts are cleaned up, the list needs to go somewhere you’ll use it. To get the list off your phone and into your other tools, simply go into your Contacts list and export it into a file.

In the reel, Cassity is able to do this on an iPhone by clicking or right-clicking on “All Contacts” and clicking on “Export,” which appears right below it. On an Android phone, you can click on the three dots for the menu, select “Contacts settings,” and go to “Export Contacts” to save it to “internal storage.” From there, you can select the file and share it to your Google Drive or directly to Claude or ChatGPT (if either app is installed).

Working with the file from an iPhone, though, Cassity suggests uploading it to your CRM or to your Google Contacts.

His caption calls the last step “extra credit.” You upload that same file into an AI chatbot and ask it for help planning your outreach.

In the reel, Cassity shares the kinds of requests he’d make:

“I’m using Claude, here, you can use ChatGPT, and just say, ‘Hey, give me some creative reasons to reach out to my clients,’ or ‘Type an email template that I can send to my vendors and ask for ideas on a joint event that we can do together in Q1.’”

Your Q4 Strategy Outreach Strategy

Cassity’s clean-up gives you a fresh contact list and a long list of people to check in with, all before the holidays.

Here’s why we love it for agents heading into the last stretch of the year:

  • It’s free and starts with the contacts on your phone
  • Every name you update is a chance to reconnect before the year wraps up
  • A current CRM and a vendor event in the works give you a head start on Q1

Block off an hour this week to start at A. We’re betting by the time you hit Z, you’ll have a cleaner list and a lot of people to call.
