TikTok home tours have become massively popular.

And it’s no surprise. Ever since Zillow made MLS photos available for all to see, people have loved peering inside other people’s homes.

Being able to showcase a luxury listing obviously helps create drool-worthy videos, but with the right tools—and the right moves—you can make just about any space look enticing.

The best part? You don’t need an entire team of content creators to shoot your own impressive real estate TikTok tour. As an agent, you need only three things to get started.

iPhone

Apple has taken massive strides to develop the best cellphone cameras on the market, so there’s no need to overcomplicate it.

Not everyone needs (or can afford) a professional videographer. Especially when you most likely have a capable enough device in your pocket. With a newer phone model that is fully updated, you already have a powerful camera at your fingertips.

Gimbal Stabilizer

Gimbals are tools you can use to stabilize your cell phone as you walk through a home recording a tour. It allows you to capture excellent footage that isn’t jerky. With the right moves, gimbals can make even the biggest amateurs look like pros.

Whether you want to create a full walkthrough video or capture one room, gimbals are a must. After shooting, you can speed up the footage, so it doesn’t drag on too long. (Pro tip: Speeding the video up also makes people want to rewatch the video to get more details).

The Right Moves

Video producer and media strategist @dontaecatlett laid out simple tutorials for all the angles you should use when shooting real estate tours.

In this first video, Dontae shows several moves to help you switch up viewpoints:

  • The Crane Swoop—This shows the room or an object from a high viewpoint, and then the camera swoops in for an up-close view.
  • Bird’s Eye View—A view from up above.
  • The Back Pedal—This starts with a close-up of an object, then pans out to a broader view.
  • Look Out Below—A view at a lower level. Think what a 3-year-old might see if they walked into the room

In Part 2 of his series, Dontae shares some moves that create a range of motion in your videos.

  • The Magic of Reverse—Back out of a space. For added effect, close the door on the camera as you exit the room.
  • Peek-a-boo—Stand outside of the room you want to film. Then, using the camera, “peek” into the room.
  • Bed Reveal—Dontae reveals a bed, but this could be done for any object. Start low and rise up to show the whole bed.
  • Sweeping Beauty—Sweep the camera across an entire object.

The more you practice these techniques, the better your videos will turn out. And when you edit, remember to keep the length short, the pace fast, and use trending audio that matches the vibe of the house.
