It’s been a week since BAM Mania, our in-person event in Vegas, and I’m absolutely blown away by the feedback! Seeing the evolution of this brand—from memes to a full-fledged media company to live events—has been a dream come true. I couldn’t be more grateful for this incredible community!
One of the most impactful speakers at BAM Mania was Neel Dhingra, a master storyteller who knows how to engage the audience emotionally while delivering tremendous value.
His presentation, “The Deadly Mistake You’re Making on Social,” delivered a simple yet powerful message: too many agents are afraid to capture and share moments from your life beyond business.

A Game-Changing Experience
Last year, Neel attended the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, investing $12,000 on premium seats with his friend Billy Gene (of Billy Gene Is Marketing). Though he hesitated due to the cost, the experience proved far more valuable than the price tag because he turned the entire event into content and relationships.
Neel documented everything. From the journey to the stadium, finding his seats, the halftime show, and the game-winning touchdown pass by the Chiefs. He posted to both his stories and feed, even filming marketing tips with the game/stadium as a dynamic backdrop for his Reels.
Since Instagram thrives on pattern disruption, changing up the environment keeps viewers engaged, and the Super Bowl setting provided the perfect opportunity. Who isn’t going to stop on a post with that as a visual hook?

Not only did Neel create incredible content, but his posts sparked new connections. As soon as he arrived, Sharran Srivatsaa messaged him, noticing he was seated right Neel. This chance encounter led to a deep friendship and professional connection, ultimately resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in business referrals. The game already paid for itself ten times over with that message.
Proof Over Promise
One of my favorite parts of Neel’s talk was that he showed proof of all of this. Instead of just telling the audience this amazing story, he showed us screenshots of the interaction with Sharran, all of his stories, and all of his feed posts so we could visualize exactly what was happening as he went through it.
That was a big theme of BAM Mania and something Sharran talks about often: Proof over promise. Don’t just tell people what you did or what you’re going to do – show them. Don’t just say “I have a buyer for this house already,” show the seller with actual proof of a text message with a name.

Content Creation at Any Level
Neel’s Super Bowl content also extended his reach beyond his regular audience, resonating with football fans and others not in his immediate network. The posts formed thousands of new personal connections and showed his followers more about him: he’s a sports fan, successful (those seats don’t come cheap), and a savvy content creator.
Now, you might be thinking, “Great, but I’m not dropping ten grand on tickets, so this doesn’t apply to me.” But it does! This type of content works at any level. Whether you’re at a local college game, coffee shop, gym, or golf range, documenting those experiences can help build connections. Imagine someone seeing your post from the driving range and thinking, “Oh, Eric likes golf; I like golf. Next time I buy a house, I might go with Eric because we’d enjoy talking about golf together.” Now, of course, this never actually happened to me when I was an agent, but I imagine it works out for other people.
Humanize Your Brand
At BAM Mania, Neel also shared a post of a FaceTime call with his daughter, who was thrilled to be at a Taylor Swift concert. It was a joyful, emotional moment that now has people associating him with being a great father. All of these pieces of content make you more emotionally invested in the creator because you share a deeper connection with who they really are.

The takeaway? We often focus on driving engagement, gaining leads, or securing business from a social post, but sometimes it’s those genuine life experiences that, even without tons of likes, start the most meaningful relationships.

Today, I am going to the World Series with my wife because I am an enormous Yankees fan. And I’m going to post about it on The Broke Agent story because of the inspiration I got from Neel’s talk. I am expecting Hal Steinbrenner, the owner of the Yankees, to see it and message me to play shortstop.
Thank you to everyone who came to BAM Mania! Here are some photos so you can relive the experience. If you didn’t make it… we better see you next year.
