That was fast—summer is over, and the settlement changes have begun! If you’re reading this, you’re still here and have survived one of the biggest changes to the real estate industry in the history of THE WORLD. Congratulations!

Now, let’s dive into some content ideas to help you crush September.

Labor Day Post Ideas

In case you need some last-second posts this weekend, here are simple ones you can easily knock out as Reels, carousels, or lists:

1. Labor Day Weekend traditions in your market: List 3-5 things like parades, parties, famous spots to hang out/eat, and beaches: what people do. The more details you can provide, the better. Include dates, times, costs, and how busy these activities will be.

2. Your Labor Day Weekend traditions: Writing offers, showing homes, sitting at an open house, etc: this being said in a cheeky way because we don’t get Labor Day off!!

3. Highlight a listing that would be great for a Labor Day BBQ. Showcase the great backyard and party potential.

4. Local business spotlight: Highlight some of your favorite businesses that are doing Labor Day sales. Don’t forget to collab with the business account on IG for maximum exposure.

5. Send an email with the subject “HUGE LABOR DAY SALE ON THIS HOUSE” —and of course, when they open there isn’t a sale…but it’s a good hook to get opens. You can make a joke about a new listing you have, or if you recently went through a price reduction, this can capture attention.

We actually have an email template with a similar subject in BAMx this week. Use code LDW for 25% off your membership.

The Start of Football

Labor Day Weekend is week one of College Football, and the NFL starts Thursday, September 5th. Whether you care or not, America cares, and it’s a great subject to make content around:

  1. Tailgate traditions: What do you do on game day? What bars/restaurants have the best viewing experiences? Do you go to the actual stadium? Do you know of any “secret spots” to watch on game day? Give people your opinions and showcase your local knowledge by hyping and ranking your go-to spots.
  2. College football season is a great time to mention where you went to college (if you did). It’s good to provide a little context of your background and share how your experience shaped you and how you eventually got into real estate.
  3. Talk about the best neighborhoods for college students or post-grads.
  4. Share what teams you HATE. Polarization = engagement.
  5. Let people know that you will have games at your open houses.

Other “Holidays” in September

September 5th: International Day of Charity—Create content around your favorite charities and why you work with them.

September 16th: National Barber DayGrasping at straws here…but you could highlight where you get your haircut/hair done.

September 22: The Start of FallExplain why the fall is a great time to list your house: great weather, kids are back in school, so they won’t get in the way of showings, sell before the holiday season, etc.

Politics

Obviously, it’s election season, and we will be hearing from the candidates about their positions on housing. How opinionated you want to get is up to you, but if you want guaranteed engagement, you can cover Kamala and Trump’s policies around housing and the economy. Here is a good example of what Jason Cassity did that didn’t ruffle too many feathers…

Trends To Take Note Of

Demure: If you haven’t heard this word yet you will because the real estate community is usually about 2-3 weeks behind social trends that appear on TikTok. I don’t want to get into it because it drives me insane but if you want to hop on, here it is

Social Media Tips for September

This week Instagram added new text-based features and fonts that you can use on stories, Reels, carousels, and picture feed posts. Definitely try these out and play around with what gets the most engagement and captures the most attention.

Remember, anytime IG roles out a new “feature,” they push that content, so at the very least, try out the new text and see if it gives you a little boost! We covered it on this week’s Walk Thru.
