Homebuyers and renters who use Claude can search Zillow listings and figure out what they can afford without ever leaving the chat.
Zillow announced the new connector on October 19, making Claude the latest AI assistant with a Zillow experience built in.
For agents, the big question is where they fit when a home search starts inside an AI assistant. Zillow built the connector so people can reach an agent while using Claude to explore their options.
Here’s a look at how the connector works and what it means for agents.
What the Zillow Connector Does Inside Claude
Once someone connects Zillow, they can ask Claude for help with a home search and get Zillow data back in the chat.
The connector can pull in:
- Homes for sale
- Homes for rent
- Home value estimates
- Affordability tools that estimate what a user can afford
- Interactive maps
Each listing includes photos and prices, with a link to the full property page on Zillow.com.
Zillow’s release lays out the setup steps:
- Open Claude.
- Go to “Customize.”
- Select “Connectors.”
- Connect Zillow.
From there, Zillow suggests asking for something specific. Its release gives two sample requests:
- “Find three-bedroom homes for sale in Denver under $600,000 with a garage”
- “Show me apartments for rent in Seattle under $2,500 a month”
Claude Joins Zillow’s Growing AI Lineup
Claude is the newest AI platform to get a Zillow experience, following ChatGPT, which has an existing Zillow experience, and Gemini, which has a rentals-focused experience.
Zillow runs its own AI products on the same technology behind the Claude connector. These include:
- Zillow AI mode, which pairs housing info with a person’s preferences to give more personalized guidance in the Zillow app
- AI-powered tools for real estate pros, which Zillow says make their work more efficient and help them serve their customers
According to Zillow, all of this is built on two decades of investment in housing tech across buying, selling, renting and financing. The company points to its proprietary data and rich media, along with its custom AI models.
Zillow says its housing expertise shapes how it builds and launches AI, and fair housing is a big part of that. The company pointed to these safeguards:
- Fair housing reviews by Zillow’s ethical AI team
- A published set of AI principles
- An open-source Fair Housing Classifier, a tool meant to help spot potential bias in real estate conversations
What the Zillow Claude Connector Means for Real Estate Agents
Zillow designed the connector to move people from browsing to taking action. Without leaving the Claude conversation, a user can:
- Request a tour
- Connect with a real estate agent
- Explore financing
According to Zillow, this setup ensures agents “remain at the center of consumers’ journeys.”
Josh Weisberg, Zillow’s senior vice president of AI, described the connector as a way to turn a chat into a real next step with a real person.
“Finding a home is one of the most important decisions people make, and it deserves specialized intelligence — real listings, real home values and real affordability math, built on two decades of housing data. This connector helps Claude users take the next step through Zillow: a tour, an agent, a loan officer. The conversation doesn’t stop with providing information, it leads to a way to make it happen.”
As an agent, you might wonder whether your brokerage gets credit on listings that appear in Claude. Zillow says yes, with the same broker and MLS attribution you’d see on Zillow.com.
The credit carries over because the listings in Claude come through Zillow’s own MLS-approved display. Zillow says it doesn’t send data to Anthropic, the company behind Claude, so the listings people see are Zillow’s.
If you want to see that experience for yourself, you can connect Zillow in Claude and check how your listings and broker attribution look from the consumer’s side.
