It’s nearing the end of 2024, which means it’s prediction time for the new year.
Thankfully, this isn’t a housing market prediction because every time I post one of those to our @nowbam Instagram, people go completely insane and tell me how useless they are since they never turn out to be true… but hey, they make great content. These social media predictions from Gary Vee, however, might be a little more accurate.
Swipe below to see what he said.
As you can see, Kodie Talley of Coffee & Contracts watched over 4.5 hours of Gary Vee’s content to get his 2025 thoughts, so we didn’t have to! I’ll break down what I found to be the most interesting and important ones.
1. Follower Counts Are Becoming Irrelevant
Platforms care about content that keeps users engaged, not how many followers you have. Gary predicts that follower counts might not even exist in the future.
My thoughts:
The social media algorithms just want to keep you on their platforms, and their AI is getting so good that it serves you exactly what you want during your scroll. Gone are the days when you primarily saw content from accounts you followed—now, it’s all about what the algorithm thinks you need to see.
This is great news for agents and creators. The metric that matters most now is engagement rate. Instead of showing sellers how many followers you have, show them how many views and shares their listing video is getting.
It also means smaller followings don’t matter as much anymore. You don’t need 100,000 followers to gain exposure. You could have 500 followers and post a video that gets millions of views simply based on the quality of your content. This is good news for everyone (besides me).
2. Both Polished and Raw Content Work
Don’t overthink it—just post and test.
As I say in my Seven Pillars of Instagram course, the variety of styles and types of content matters.
You’ll notice that the quick, five-second video you film in your car often gets more views than the polished, talking-head video you recorded in your office with a professional videographer.
Why? People like to relate to the creator, and content shot with your phone’s front-facing camera often feels more engaging and authentic. The key is not to stick to one posting style—mix it up!
3. Be Authentic: Trends Come and Go
This is an obvious one but worth repeating.
My advice: Post content you’re passionate about. It sounds basic, but you can always tell when an agent is making a video because they think they have to, versus content they actually enjoy creating.
The audience can tell when someone is having fun. For example, if you love coffee and make a coffee shop review video, your enthusiasm will come through the screen. On the flip side, if you hate short sales and film a client education video with that energy, it’ll feel like a hostage situation—and people will tune out.
4. Diversify
Gary emphasizes the importance of being on multiple platforms.
Do NOT put all your social media eggs in one basket. You risk being affected by hacks, dead accounts, or sudden shifts in platform popularity. The more your clients see you on different platforms, the better.
My top three for 2025 are Email, YouTube, and Instagram:
- Email doesn’t rely on an algorithm, and you actually own the data.
- Use Instagram to grow your email list and your email to grow your Instagram audience.
- YouTube is your search engine powerhouse. A single video can work for you for years, building trust and driving traffic long after it’s published.
5. Start Organically
Platforms reward organic content. Once you know what works, amplify it with ads.
Many agents jump into Instagram or YouTube with a ton of boosted posts to grow engagement and followers quickly. But until you’ve built an organic audience, this isn’t the best strategy. Why? The audience you gain through ads tends to be less engaged.
Instead, focus on creating a content bank first. Once you know what performs well, boost those posts for greater reach.
Great work, Gary.
Soon, I’ll share MY predictions for 2025 real estate content.
