Nearly half of all real estate content creators (47%) identify “video” as the marketing area they struggle with the most.
That’s according to the BAM x ReminderMedia Social Media Survey. And while we’re committed to changing that stat and helping more agents get comfortable with video, we’ve got great news for anyone who hates being on camera.
Turns out, the new Instagram posting style that’s converting like gangbusters doesn’t even require video. It’s a carousel post with a mix of text and images with text overlays.
That might not sound exciting, but take a look at some of the best examples, and you’ll see why this was a key topic in this week’s Walk Thru.
Be prepared for the ideas to flow. And get ready to stand out.
1. “In 2011, I Left Wall Street…”
Sharran Srivatsaa, former president of Real Brokerage and the first outside BAM board member, posted this carousel to briefly share the highlights of his journey from Wall Street to his current position as president and managing partner at Acquisition.com.
Slide #3 introduces the lessons Sharran learned from building two billion-dollar companies, with the final slide teasing the full list of 48 lessons no MBA could ever teach you about entrepreneurship.
It’s a masterclass in nine slides, with the promise of more to come. No wonder the engagement is insane, with thousands of likes and comments.
2. “When I Was 12, My Mom Did Something That Changed My Life”
Neel Dhingra (@neelhome) posted this carousel just a couple days ago, and it’s already racked up hundreds of likes. Every page tells part of the story, with an image and a text overlay, all with clear and simple phrasing. Every word earns its place.
The story is authentic and relatable. My advice? Keep a tissue box handy.
#3: “Unhinged Things I Did as a Real Estate Agent”
In this eight-slide carousel, Haley Ingram of Coffee & Contracts shares eight “unhinged” things she did as a real estate agent, culminating in the last thing that turned into her full-time business.
Every post is an image of Haley with her adorable golden retriever. And as with Neel Dhingra’s post, every image has a text overlay with short descriptive phrases, all in lowercase.
The caption provides a more detailed story about Haley’s journey from starting out as a real estate agent to trying all the things (cold calling, door knocking, etc.), to finding her niche as the founder and owner of a growing, industry-favorite real estate marketing company.
Any “cringe” stories you could share with your followers?
#4: This Is What Hustle Looks Like
This post takes the viewer through the story of how a homeowner couple who knew Glennda Baker from TikTok hired her after their home, listed with a friend, didn’t sell.
It also breaks down everything she did to sell their home. And as in all the posts shared here, every word and every image earns its place. It’s a classic example of “proof over promise.”
In just six slides, Glennda demonstrates why people choose her to sell their home, based on what they see in her marketing. Posted about two days ago, the post has over 1,200 likes.
Now that we’ve gone over these four examples, what stories could you tell to—
- Share a relatable personal story from your childhood?
- Share a quick overview of your professional accomplishments + lessons you’ve learned?
- Share the craziest things you’ve done as a real estate agent?
- Share exactly what you did to get an expired listing under contract in 10 days or less?
If none of these bring up ideas, here are few more:
- A “before and after” client story
- “The one lesson that changed my business”
- “What I wish I knew in my first year as an agent”
- My “Why I almost quit” story
- “One mistake I’ll never make again”
- “The toughest client conversation I ever had”
- “How I landed my first listing”
- # “Lessons my clients taught me”
- My “If I lost it all tomorrow” plan
And we created a template for you to replicate these type of posts inside BAMx! All you have to do is craft your story! Which one will you create first?
