Brandon Holtz just gave golf fans in his market a reason to remember his name.

After winning the 2025 U.S. Mid-Amateur, the Bloomington, IL real estate agent earned a spot at the Masters Golf Tournament at Augusta National, putting him in a position most agents could never replicate and turning his personal brand into something people actually want to follow.

He ended Round 1 on Thursday at 9 above par and Round 2 on Friday at 6 above par.

This means he didn’t make the cut for the next round, but he did get to live out a lifelong dream, with CBS Sports saying he “might be the best story at The Masters.”

At the same time, he’s giving us all a big lesson on personal brand.

Let’s dive in, starting with his Instagram bio.

Start with a Clear Identity

Holtz’s IG bio lists three things:

  • Amateur Golfer
  • 2025 U.S. MID-AM Champ
  • Real Estate Agent

His profile makes it clear what drives his identity.

So, you can probably guess where he likes to spend a lot of his non-work time.

Now, his own content is carrying the story forward. A recent “Then & Now” post gives viewers a snapshot of his path from the 2018 Illinois Open to the Big Stage.

Here’s what Holtz’s Instagram shows about building a brand people pay attention to.

Why Holtz stands out on Instagram

Scroll through Holtz’s Instagram, and you know exactly what you’re getting.

  • Practice rounds.
  • Clips from tournaments.
  • Photos from Augusta.

Plus plenty of captured moments where he’s clearly enjoying where he is and what he’s doing.

One caption says a lot about how Holtz shows up:

“Your 39-year-old real estate agent took his turn in the Crow’s Nest, had his Monday practice round, and finished up with the Amateur Dinner. See y’all tomorrow morning on the range!”

It reads like a quick update to people who are already following along. No setup. No explanation. He’s just sharing what’s happening. Keeping his audience in the loop.

And yes, he mentions that he’s a real estate agent because that’s part of who he is, too. But he leaves it at that.

The collab posts help expand his reach. Content tied to the Masters brings in a broader audience. RE/MAX jumps in with a post cheering him on, which puts him in front of even more people without changing anything about how he shows up.

Everything in Holtz’s IG lines up. Same focus. Same energy. Same kind of content.

What agents can take from this

Holtz’s content works because it’s built around something he’s actively working toward: continuous improvement as an amateur golfer.

Scroll through a typical agent feed, and listings and sold posts are what stand out. After a while, it all blends together, and nobody remembers who posted what.

Holtz gives people a reason to pay attention.

You see the same idea in other agents who bring people into a meaningful part of their lives.

Krys Benyamein is a good example. He has shared the kind of physical and mental discipline required to chase huge goals, including climbing Mount Everest. Posts like that help people understand what drives him and what he’s really about.

Holtz shows it, too, as a competitive amateur golfer who’s found a way to follow his passion for golf while serving buyers and sellers in his neighborhood, no doubt bringing the same locked-in energy he shows on the golf course.

Agents can apply this without forcing it.

  • Pick one part of your life you already care deeply about
  • Share your progress while it’s happening
  • Bring people into the work, the discipline, or the challenge behind it
  • Let your audience get to know you through something you love and invest real time in

Recognition grows when people can connect your name to something that matters to them, too.
