About six months ago, I created a poll asking 3,500 Realtors all across the nation what their #1 challenge is.
Now, of course, some think the issue is leads, indecisive buyers or interest rates.
But the VAST majority (82.7%, to be exact) said the number one challenge for Realtors is consistency. Not knowing what to do each day, how to spend their time, or how to stay consistent and get consistent closings.
I was honestly pretty surprised by that answer at first. After some more digging, I realized that one of the biggest challenges in real estate is a lack of systems and structure that lead to consistency.
Consistency is the not-so-secret ingredient for long-term success in real estate. Yet, for many agents, it’s easier said than done. We know we need to focus on the right actions to move our business forward, but distractions, inefficiencies, and busy work often get in the way.
The good news? You can take control of your business and stay consistent by implementing a few key strategies. Today, I’m breaking down actionable solutions to help you master consistency, maximize productivity, and finally feel in control of your time.
Solution #1: Follow a Daily Action Plan That Aligns With Your Goals
The foundation of consistency starts with a clear daily action plan. I’ve always loved the theory of planning your day the night before. This allows you to wake up and be proactive about your business and goals rather than reactive to whatever is happening that day.
When you know exactly what you need to do each day—and stick to it—you eliminate the guesswork and reduce the temptation to focus on non-productive activities.
Plus, you might be surprised when you create a really simple action plan that is designed around moving the needle forward in your business, you’ll actually need to spend less time in your business.
Why a Daily Action Plan is Crucial
Many agents assume that success in real estate requires constant, tedious work. In reality, it’s about spending your time on the right activities. By focusing on income producing activities (IPAs) and supporting them with systems, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how much progress you’ll see.
How to Build Your Action Plan
Start by identifying key tasks that directly drive results in your business. Here’s a sample framework to get you started:
- 30–60 minutes of outbound prospecting calls
- 30–60 minutes of follow-ups with past clients or network connections
- 1 Instagram Reel created or repurposed daily
- 10 minutes of script work and role-play
- 10 minutes of MLS and market research
- 10 minutes of learning or professional development
- Host 1 open house per weekend
By committing to this plan at least five days a week for 90 days, you’ll create next-level momentum in your business.
Now of course you can swap out whatever you want to in order to make this fit your preferred strategies, but I do want to point one thing out:
If you follow the action plan outlined above, it would take you approximately 2.5-3 hours each day at the maximum. This means you could commit those 2-3 hours early in your day and then spend the rest of your day doing whatever you want while still moving that needle forward.
Solution #2: Manage Your Schedule More Effectively
One of the biggest barriers to consistency is poor time management. It’s easy to get caught up in “busy work”—tasks that feel “productive” but don’t actually generate much ROI. To stay consistent, you need to structure your day around priorities and protect your time.
That is why I like to use my signature “POWER 5” Method. I like to believe that I created this, but there are many versions of a similar concept, so find whatever works best for you.
Tesabella’s POWER 5 Method
My POWER 5 method simplifies your daily focus by narrowing it down to the five most important tasks. Each morning, write down your top five priorities for the day, focusing on business tasks that drive results.
Here’s an example:
- 30 minutes of prospecting
- 30 minutes of follow-up
- 1 post to social media
- 10–20 minutes of learning or training
- 30 minutes in your database (cleaning up tasks, adding notes, tracking activity)
This approach helps you tackle your most important tasks first, so even if your day gets derailed, you’ll still feel accomplished.
Master Time Management
Finding the right time management system for your work style is essential. Here are a few that might help you tap into your most productive self. 😎
- Pomodoro Method: Work in 25-minute focused blocks with 5-minute breaks.
- Deep Work Hours: Dedicate uninterrupted blocks of time to high-impact tasks.
- Batch Work: Group similar tasks together to save time and reduce mental fatigue.
Pro Tip: Always, always, always protect your prospecting time! Even when you’re busy with clients (or life), carve out at least 30 minutes a day to generate new business—this will help keep you off the commission rollercoaster.
Solution #3: Implement Systems That Create Freedom
Systems are the backbone of consistency. And the better your systems, the easier it is to outsource and automate those systems—which ultimately gives you more freedom!
Use the Eisenhower Matrix to Prioritize Tasks
One of my favorite ways to start implementing new systems is by using something called the Eisenhower Matrix. This is a simple but powerful tool for organizing tasks by urgency and importance. Divide your tasks into four categories:
- Do (Urgent + Important): Immediate, high-priority tasks that must be completed now. Example: Responding to an offer or resolving a client issue.
- Schedule (Not Urgent + Important): Tasks that support your long-term goals but don’t need to be done immediately. Example: Planning a marketing strategy for a new listing.
- Delegate (Urgent + Not Important): Tasks that need to be done but can be handled by someone else. Example: Scheduling showings or managing social media graphics.
- Delete (Not Urgent + Not Important): Low-value tasks that don’t align with your goals. Eliminate these from your to-do list.
Before you know it, you’ll probably start to notice more trends in your business, and even be able to identify tasks that are no longer necessary and can be removed from your schedule altogether.
Solution #4: Fix the Weak Areas in Your Business
She says with all due respect 🫶
Truthfully, every business has bottlenecks—areas where inefficiencies or lack of focus slow you down. The sooner you can be really candid about locating the ‘weak’ points in your business, the easier it will be to plug those holes, and move forward with ease!
Quick Fix: How to Diagnose Your Business Weaknesses
Ask yourself a few self-reflection questions like:
- Do I enjoy this task?
- Am I good at this task?
- How much time does this task take?
- Is this task causing a bottleneck in my business?
Once you’ve identified areas that need improvement, consider outsourcing or delegating tasks that don’t align with your strengths.
Action Items for Building Consistency
To make these solutions actionable, start with these steps:
- Create a daily action plan and commit to it for at least 90 days.
- Write down your top five priorities each morning using the POWER 5 method.
- Implement time management strategies like deep work hours or another approach that fits your style.
- Build systems that create freedom!
- Reflect on weak areas in your business and address bottlenecks.
Remember, consistency and predictability mean you get to say goodbye to:
❌ Roller Coaster Commissions
❌ Confusion and Overwhelm
❌ Looming “Is this really for me?” thoughts
And hello to:
✅ Consistent Closings
✅ Referrals On The Regular from all 5-sources
✅ Confidence in what you’re working on each day!
It’s not always about working longer hours—it’s about working smarter and focusing on the activities that truly drive results.
Start small, stay committed, and you’ll be amazed at how consistent actions compound into big successes!
