The house featured as the McCallister family residence in Home Alone is now for sale.
With five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and a number of thoughtful, high-end features, the Winnetka, Illinois home is listed for $5.25 million. And it’s well worth at least a virtual tour of the love that went into every detail of this gorgeous property’s glow-up.
Grab a pillow. You’ll want to make sure your jaw has a soft landing.
The house made famous by the beloved 1990 film is on sale for the first time since 2012, when it was purchased for $1.58 million.
The long staircase should look familiar to Home Alone fans, but most of the interior looks very different from the one portrayed in the movie.
As explained in NBC Chicago, the home’s interior was too small to fit all the Home Alone cast and crew for filming. To fit everyone, scenes of the family members were shot inside New Trier Township High School.
Also, in 2018, the entire home was “fully renovated and expanded,” according to Zillow.
With over 9,000 square feet, the Pinterest-perfect Georgian brick home comes with several luxe features, including a basement that looks nothing like the one in the movie:
- Screened-in porch/sunroom with a fireplace
- Fully-equipped gym
- State-of-the-art movie theater (with Home Alone memorabilia)
- Indoor sports court with a three-point line (in the basement)
- Three-car attached heated garage
To highlight some of those features, here are just a few of the 58 images included in the Zillow listing:

And then there’s the kitchen:

The listing is represented by Kathryn Moor and Dawn McKenna of Coldwell Banker Realty. In an interview with People, McKenna describes the property as a “rare legend that lives up to its hype in every way.”
This home has it all. It’s iconic, loaded with modern amenities, and in one of the best neighborhoods in the country.
