A couple of months ago, Giveback Homes returned from a build trip with Concierge Auctions as part of their Key for Key Giving Program. Not only did we have an incredible time, but ten homes were completed for families in need in El Salvador!

The topic of housing affordability continues to be a concern in the U.S. and abroad. Today I’m sharing how Giveback Homes can help you support individuals and families in your community.

How Giveback Homes members support affordable housing in the U.S.

The question of donating locally versus internationally is common. People often think it has to be one or the other, or that one is better than the other.

The answer is both are equally important and needed—that’s why many of our members support both.

Members across the U.S. have been fundraising and organizing local volunteer events to help support affordable housing in their own backyards. Here are some of the projects our members have completed in the U.S.

Oakland, California

In Oakland, CA, many real estate teams joined in to help revitalize a home in Oakland so that a family can keep their home.

Today was special. Our real estate team and our friends and clients joined us to build a home in Oakland. Our dear clients closed on a wonderful home and chose to use our donation locally. I’m sore. Exhausted. But my soul is filled. A home for a home. Buy or sell with us and we build for someone in need. Real estate for social good. And c’mon, who doesn’t love remodeling a 1920s craftsman? Wow, Oakland you have amazing history. — Ryan Secrist, Golden Gate Sotheby’s International Realty

Another build day down! @theagency_norcal kick’s off our first 2022 build day in Oakland, partnering with @givebackhomes to revitalize a four-bedroom, three-bath home for a local family in need. The team had an unforgettable experience! — The Agency NorCal

“We always have the best time working hard with @givebackhomes – This was our second Build Day at this Oakland location. It’s so exciting to see the progress” — @zipcodeeastbay

Denver, Colorado

Jessica Northrop and her team recently celebrated their 6th annual Denver Build Day. Their annual day to give back to local Denver area families has become a team tradition, and this year the team was joined by friends, clients, and trusted vendors.

Together, they helped build a home for Alexandria, a fifth-generation Colorado native who works full-time and is a single mother to three kids.

“With every home sold, we contribute to helping those in need find safe and affordable housing.” – Jessica Northrop, The Northrop Group

Bozeman, Montana

In April, Annie Kreder and her team of volunteers hosted the first Giveback Homes Build Day in Bozeman, MT, which aims to provide transformative housing to Bozeman’s chronically homeless.

“Our day of volunteering was a success! Celebrating Montana Day and giving back to our amazing community, leaves me feeling so grateful and excited for this place we call home. My heart is full and our community is expanding.” — Annie Kreder, Big Sky Sotheby’s International

Wilmington, North Carolina

“Last week, our team participated in a Build Day. The homeowner, Tavia, was with us, and getting to know her was 100% the best part. A single mom of two boys and a truck driver, she is putting in the hours and has saved up her down payment. Homeownership is the American dream and it is an honor to be a part of that for Tavia and her sons.” — Stephanie Lanier, Lanier Property Group

Fallston, Maryland

“Spent Earth Day ‘22 🌎 at our newly adopted Park & Playground here in Fallston, MD. Pulled weeds, trimmed hedges, picked up trash and leaves, and then mulched, and mulched, and mulched some more. So proud of our amazing team!” — Kristian Kan, Premier Home Team
