On today’s Hot Sheet, Byron Lazine broke down the ADP report showing private payrolls increased by 62,000 in March, with annual pay up 4.5% and hiring concentrated in select sectors like health care.

He also reviewed February JOLTS data showing job openings held at 6.9 million while hires dropped by 498,000 to 4.8 million, the lowest rate since April 2020.

For today’s third topic, Byron covered this week’s report from the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) showing mortgage applications fell 10.4% week over week, with refinance activity down 17% and purchase demand down 3% week over week, holding at just 1% above last year.
