On today’s Hot Sheet, Byron Lazine broke down NAHB data showing new home prices fell below existing homes for the third straight quarter, with new builds at $405,300 versus $414,900 for resale.

He also unpacked Realtor.com’s analysis of a rental market splitting into three groups, including priced-out renters, locked-in households, and those stuck in between.

For today’s final topic, Byron reviewed the latest U.S. Department of Labor data, with initial claims rising to 210,000 while insured unemployment fell to 1.819 million and the rate held at 1.2%. The 4-week average declined to 1.847M, the lowest since 2024
