One of the best ways to maximize the exposure of every listing isn’t just through traditional marketing—it’s by creating viral short-form content that you can drip out while the home is on the market.
And no, we’re not talking about the usual branded videos or polished cinematic walkthroughs.
Instead, I want to share a specific content idea we published this week that’s already delivering results—and one you can easily apply to your next listing.
The Inspiration: Scrolling With Intent
This concept was born while we were scrolling Instagram with a purpose: looking for creative video concepts we could repurpose for a listing.
We came across a viral trend where a woman notices her boss is following her on IG—so she takes pictures throughout the day to show how hard she’s working.
Immediately, we saw a way to apply this to a home tour.
Watch the video below to see the original inspiration video as well as the one we created:
The Simple Formula: 8 Shots, 1 Viral Video
This format is simple. Here’s what you need:
- 1 short video clip (4-5 seconds long)
- At least 4 vertical photos featuring you inside or outside the home, highlighting key features
Here’s how it came out:
We tested this concept and posted an 8-shot version of the video. Here’s how it performed in just 21 hours:
- 15 hours and 19 minutes of watch time
- 25 shares (our favorite metric)
- 22 saves
By the time you’re reading this, we’re hoping it’s crossed 10K views.
Step-by-Step Guide to Creating the Video
Step 1: Record the First Clip (Front Camera)
- Use your front camera—not the back camera
- Look away from the screen, then glance down like you just got a notification.
- Swipe your hand in front of the screen as if you’re swiping on your phone.
- Keep this clip 3-4 seconds max.
Step 2: Capture the Photos (Back Camera, 0.5x Zoom)
- Switch to photo mode and select 0.5x (wide-angle) for the best composition.
- Hold the phone at arm’s length and turn it around so the back camera faces you.
- Avoid touching the screen (so you don’t mess up the settings).
- Use the volume-down button to snap each shot.
Step 3: Pose & Highlight Key Features
- Have fun with it—thumbs up, silly poses, or confident stances.
- Pick the sexiest or most unique features of the home:
- Front of the house
- Spacious backyard
- Laundry room
- Primary bedroom
- Vaulted ceilings or architectural highlights
- Add on-screen text with clever captions to enhance engagement.
Ready to Try It?
This was an easy, repeatable format that took minimal effort but drove major engagement. Try it on your next listing and let us know how it performs.
