Key Details:

  • Realtor.com® has acquired Zenlist, a mobile-first platform used by over 35,000 agents for collaborative search and client communication.
  • Founded in 2016, Zenlist offers real-time listing access and streamlined agent-client interaction without requiring brokers or MLSs to build their own tech.
  • The move supports Realtor.com’s strategy to scale modern tools that strengthen agent value and consumer trust.

Realtor.com has officially acquired Zenlist, a collaborative search platform designed to bring agents and buyers together in a more modern, mobile-first experience.

The acquisition was announced in a July 14 press release from Move, Inc., the operator of Realtor.com, and it marks a significant step toward a more connected and transparent housing marketplace.

Here’s what you need to know.

What Zenlist Brings to the Table

Zenlist launched in 2016 with a mission to streamline the home search experience by making it collaborative, simple, and mobile-friendly. The platform was built around the idea that agents and clients shouldn’t be bouncing between texts, emails, and outdated property alerts.

Instead, Zenlist offers a shared space where clients and agents can communicate, browse listings, and track updates within one unified system.

Before the acquisition, Zenlist was already making waves:

  • It was adopted by several leading MLSs and brokerages.
  • More than 35,000 agents were actively using the platform.
  • It allowed agents to offer a sleek consumer experience without requiring MLSs or brokers to fund or build their own tech solutions.

Now, with Realtor.com stepping in, those capabilities are about to scale fast.

Realtor.com’s Vision for the Future

Realtor.com wants to create a real estate ecosystem where MLSs are empowered, agents are better equipped, and consumers experience more transparency from search to close.

Anna Marie Castiglioni, Head of Realtor.com Next, made that clear in the company’s announcement:

“With Zenlist, we aim to deliver a more modern, transparent and cooperative consumer buying and selling experience at a time when trust, openness and innovation matter more than ever.”

The acquisition supports Realtor.com’s broader strategy of investing in tools that help agents stay relevant and ready as the industry shifts. The focus is on increasing collaboration, speed, and user trust, all while reducing tech fatigue for agents who are juggling multiple systems.

According to Zenlist founder and CEO Tom MacLeod, joining forces with Realtor.com® opens the door to broader impact:

“By tapping into Realtor.com®’s trusted brand and scale, we’ll be able to enhance our platform, broaden our offerings, and continue delivering top-tier services and tools to even more industry partners and professionals.”

Zenlist employees will join the Move, Inc. and Realtor.com team, and users can expect continued support and platform development. While the financial terms of the deal haven’t been made public, the focus appears to be on integration and scale, not restructuring.
