As many of you know, I recently posted a reel about my separation from my husband of 10 years. Sharing something so personal isn’t easy, but I’ve always believed in being honest with you all and showing the good, the bad, and the ugly. Life is full of challenges, but our response to them defines who we are. I’ve always felt that growth comes from the toughest times in our lives.

If you watched that reel, you know I applied to speak at the Powerhouse Women event in August. This event embodies everything I believe in—women’s empowerment, uplifting each other and collaborating instead of competing. One of the speakers even interviewed Oprah, so it’s truly next-level. Speaking there has been a long-time dream of mine!

I almost didn’t apply because of everything going on in my life. But then I thought, what kind of leader would I be if I didn’t step up and share this message with you all? I constantly preach that vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness. So, I chose to create this video and post it, even though it was scary. But rather than focusing on my doubts and fears, I always try to focus on who I’m serving with my content. If it helps just one person who needs to see it, it’s always worth it.

Before filming this video, I reached out to Eric Simon, The Broke Agent, to help me with the framework. Eric has a brilliant mind for marketing, and he helped me storyboard and script the video entirely. Today, I want to break down the script and key points that you can take away for your future reels.

Start with the Problem

It’s important to hook the viewer immediately by starting with the problem. This captures their attention. I knew that starting with this hook would be shocking and make viewers want to watch until the end.

“Five days ago, my marriage ended abruptly. My husband told me he was leaving and moved out. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know the last few years haven’t been easy for me.”

Share Your Growth

Share what you’ve learned from the situation and how you’ve overcome adversity. This connects the audience to you on a human level.

“What I’ve realized is that growth comes from the most difficult seasons in our lives. So I’m entering the speaker contest for the Powerhouse Women event, and the contestants were asked to share what is called our ‘powerhouse moment.’”

Showcase Your Accomplishments

Sharing your accomplishments is important because it highlights your journey and the hard work you’ve put into achieving your goals. It shows the audience what’s possible with dedication and resilience.

“Initially, I thought I could talk about how I’ve:

Produced over 70 blog posts for a real estate media company

Created viral real estate content

Built a massive team across the country

Spoken on stages

Thrown countless networking events and parties

Built out funnels and lead magnets, and grew my email list

But none of those felt like a true powerhouse moment.”

Share Your Heart

Sharing your heart is crucial because it creates a deep connection with your audience, making them feel understood and valued.

“My powerhouse moment is helping women find their voice even when we feel voiceless. It’s understanding that we can be powerful on our own and not fear being on camera. I want to let them know it’s okay to not be okay. You’re stronger than you think. You have to feel it to heal it. It’s okay to fail because that’s where our growth is. It won’t be easy, but we’ll make it through.

So, if you’ve ever gotten an ounce of value from me, all I ask is that you tag Powerhouse Women in the comments so I can share this message on stage in front of 700 people in August at the Powerhouse Women event.

And if you take one thing away from this video, I want you to know that you’re not alone.”

Sharing my personal struggles and achievements with you is not always easy, but it’s through this openness that we connect and find strength together. Whether it’s a reel about my life or a dream to speak at the Powerhouse Women event, my goal is always to inspire and uplift you. Remember, we all face challenges, but it’s how we rise above them that defines us. You’re never alone in your journey.
