Last week, The Broke Agent asked a question that hit a nerve for a lot of agents:
“Have you ever fired a client? If so, what was it for?”
This isn’t something people lead with when they talk about their business. Still, it comes up more often than you’d think.
Because at some point in these scenarios, a deal stops being worth it. The stress outweighs the commission. The client crosses a line.
And when that happens, sometimes walking away is the only sane thing to do.
The Moments Agents Said “I’m Out”
The comments came in fast, and agents were brutally honest.
Some stories were easy to relate to. Others escalated into situations no one signs up for. The kind that force you to draw a hard line and stick to it.
And in some cases, the kind that make you glad they got away safely.
Agents shared stories about sellers insisting on wildly unrealistic listing prices, clients making inappropriate advances, and late-night calls that spiraled into angry, drunken rants.
Others described being cut out of deals entirely, with clients trying to rewrite agreements to avoid paying commission.
Another caught their client in an outright lie that made it impossible to move forward with them.
A lot of the comments boil down to client behavior that tells the agent there’s no reason to believe the situation will get any better.
Here’s a sampling of the comments:

So, have you ever fired a client? And do you have any stories of your own? Head on over to Facebook to share your thoughts.
