Ignore your contrived, visceral feelings toward Taylor Swift for a second and appreciate that her marketing matches her talent and influence.
In case you live under fifty rocks, Taylor Swift is coming out with a new album called Life of a Showgirl on October 3rd, and the way she went about the release and hype was genius.
Here’s what she did, and more importantly, how you can apply some of these tactics in your real estate business.
#1: Layered Tease & Build-Up
She didn’t just drop the news; she stacked moments:
- Initiated hype by releasing clips via New Heights (Travis and Jason Kelce’s) podcast, teasing a “special guest.”
- Social media hinting at “a new era” and cryptic Easter eggs like profile pic changes, orange-and-mint visuals, and a 12-photo carousel.
- Countdown clock driving fans to her own site, which linked to pre-orders.
- On the New Height podcast, she talked about everything with genuine excitement.
How agents can do this
You are selling houses, so if you tried to hype up one listing with a multi-layer tease, it might not be worth the same level of effort. Also, you are not Taylor Swift, so a profile pic change is not going to send people rushing to your website to see a countdown for a two-bedroom lease.
But you can definitely use a Countdown clock: Instagram Stories has a “countdown” sticker you can use for releasing content, lead magnets, new listing announcements, webinars, or new videos. We use it on BAM before webinars to increase FOMO. You can use it in your Stories or on a property website to promote a listing or piece of content. It won’t move the needle dramatically, but countdowns create anticipation.
Excitement: When Taylor went on the podcast, she was excited. You could hear the passion in how she talked about her music and the release. As Neel Dhingra says, if you aren’t excited about what you’re talking about, how do you expect your audience to be?
This energy should be in your video content, whether you’re talking about a new listing or a local business. Be proud of what you’re doing and posting about. It makes people buy in.
#2: Relationship-Led Marketing
Announcing the album on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast blends personal life with professional and instantly crosses over music and sports audiences.
The 2025 BAM x ReminderMedia Social Survey found that personal posts generate the most engagement on social for agents, with hyper-local content and property tours coming in next. So, sprinkle in some of your behind-the-scenes personal life and even bring in some of your relationships (personal or business) when appropriate.
#3: Cross-Media Domination
The announcement touched music press, sports media, and mainstream news all at once. Every phase generated its own viral content, with the Instagram teaser clip hitting 168 million views in 24 hours.
How agents can do this
This type of marketing is a cross-pollination of brands. She released her album date on a football podcast, spreading her message and awareness to an audience that doesn’t already follow her.
For agents, this means collaboration. Whether it’s going on non-real estate podcasts, getting in front of non-real estate audiences, or collaborating with local businesses on Instagram, the more you can work with other accounts and get your content seen by new audiences, the more you expand your reach.
The cross-media domination shows the importance of multi-platform media. She got 168 million views on one Instagram clip, but that content also went out on Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, podcasts, and more. No matter the platform, people were seeing it. For agents, this supports the idea that you shouldn’t put all your eggs in one social basket. People consume content differently across platforms, so the best way to get your message out is to be everywhere.
We broke it down on this week’s Walk Thru, which is a must-watch.
How can you trendjack this moment
The simplest way to trendjack this moment is to use Taylor Swift audios on your content, like we just did on BAM:
Another way is to do spin-offs of her album. Instead of Life of a Showgirl, make it Life of a Showing Agent. We have this template available for BAMx members because all our weekly content is timely and relevant.
